It was indeed. Met him in John Lennon Airport after the Liverpool, Villa game in the 04-05 season, we beat them 2-1. He was with his missus getting ready for a holiday in the sun, wasn't even gonna go over to him as i thought he would be a total cock(past reputation etc) but he was sound as a pound, talked about the game no problem, generally deadon.
Saw him later on eating a mcdonalds with his woman, few other Liverpool fans were taking the mick out of him but he was joking away with them to be fair.
Certainly changed my opinion of him, before i thought he was a bit of a mouthy prima donna.

That’ll be why he can’t get in a team near the foot of the ‘Championship’…

I agree with you about him mate.

I've never met him but my missus has been at a wedding and he was there with his bird and she said he wasn't up himself at all. A few lads I know who are Brum fans have met him and they can't fault him and say he's a nice lad.

Have not met any famous players myself but a cousin was at a party with Ian Wright and said he was a really nice bloke - he odered a delivery of booze from an off-licence for everyone at the party

Emile Heskey - got all flumoxed and just called him Heskey instead of Emile. He gave me a scary look, I got all tongue tied and had to just walk away!

Wish he had been that aggressive on the pitch.

Forgot - It was in the players lounge at St James Park while I was at Uni there. One of my flat mate's sisters was married to Warren Barton so he got us in there. Warren Barton even gave us a lift back home in his Aston Martin. He is a top top bloke.

We went to Baja's Beach Club (a night club) one night as well and went in the VIP section with all the Newcastle players. Most of them are pretty boring to be honest, Shearer just stood with his two bodyguards all night, I never got near him. Temouri Ketsbaia was just sat on his own all night, no one ever spoke to him. I got battered and spent most of the night chatting to Kieron Dyer trying to convince him to join Liverpool (this was when he was good). Made a bit of a tit of myself I think although my memories of that night are a little hazy!

To be fair he was officially on his summer hols by then, think he was downing a few pints as well if memory serves me correctly. He looked in a **** mood though, probably cos of the result or maybe he had a bust up with O'Leary or something, who knows but he came across as a fairly decent bloke anyway.
His missus was an absolute stunner btw but then again aren't most footballers birds the same?... lucky gits

Met Kevin Sheedy on more than one occasion - bit of a surly one.

Also met David Fairclough - sound bloke

Robbie Fowler - Met him when he was in his pomp, total legend.Only spoke to him for about twenty seconds, didn't know what to say, probably made a complete tit of myself but was still deliriously happy.

I was at uni in dundee from 1996-2000. I stayed in the Yarrow Terrace halls in Lochee (or up lochee way), then i stayed in the town after that.

Very old school but met most of the Liverpool and Everton footballers of early eighties because I lived in pubs in the city. Most of them were OK, Jimmy Case's cousin wasn't. John Gidman was a complete knob and I barred him!

Met Moyes at the airport going out to Athens, wasn't happy with my comment about being the best team in Merseyside. Surly git.
