Just a poor decision (it was outside the box) and a lack of composure in the midst of a 5 minute Russia surge cost them.
Disagree. Thought we were second best - but somehow contrived to create better chances. Only last ditch tackles by Richards and Campbell kept us in it.
The pattern for the second half was set right from the whistle and Mclaren did nothing to stem the tide. It's all very well sitting deep and hoping for a 1-0 win but if you concede the equalizer - the opposition summon up an extra 10% from somewhere and generally go on the ascendancy.
Whilst England were still in control of the scoreline - McLaren should have dragged the ineffective Owen off and put Rooney up front - and brought Crouch on to hold the ball up. Instead he reacted to the scoreline - instead of making things go his own way with the decisions he made. Poor management - but then what's new?Liverpool born and bred.

But it says "lol out loud".Originally posted by thesilverfoxlfc View PostLaughing out loud (lol)
So how does laughing out loud out loud" work? It just doesn't make sense - like appointing Steve McClaren as manager of anything more than a newspaper stall..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Russia should be too good for IsrealOriginally posted by DJS View PostNothing left but sheer desperation.
Funny thing is, i could see Israel MAYBE holding Russia...and then England failing to beat Croatia anyway...

I agree about McLaren's naivety in terms of tactics, but Russia never really looked a threat, in terms of scoring.
Away from home against a side like Russia, you're obviously going to have to concede possession at times, but until the penalty, it was a very good & professional away performance IMO.

I actually thought we were poor tonight, especially in the second half. Russia played the most enterprising football and deserved to win. As always we lacked creativity and imagination in the final third, in fact it was like watching Liverpool. Very depressing stuff but at least it means the likes of Gerrard will have a aproper holiday this summer.
