For the record, all of you think YOU'RE right too, that's the nature of an opinion. You dont say "I think this..." and believe you're wrong, do you???

IMO, the seeds should be the top four sides, that's the whole objective and nature of a seeding system. That's what they're designed for. If the top four sides are seeded, it increases the chances of seeing the big guns going head to head in the latter stages. I'd rather Italy v France and Holland v Germany, than Austria v Italy and Switzerland v France in the semi finals.

As for Scotland, i dont subscribe that they deserved to qualify as you do, they did very well, but the teams who finish 1st and 2nd are the ones who deserve it because thety amassed the most points over 12 or 14 games. Those who qualified are there on merit.
Seeding these so called 'weaker' countries will level out & spare us in seeing the same teams competing for trophies all the time. In horse racing you've got horses running with handicaps just to level out things.

Based on results and the difficulty of their group, Scotland deserve more than England. They've beaten the world cup finalists home and away but still got out at the expense of the french.

England got a very manageable group, but they've still not qualified. People don't realize that in some of these weaker teams are improving all the time due to better coaching and tactics.

I'd hate to see a France vs Italy final all the time.

      It's not horse racing though!

Why not operate handicaps on the Premier League then, going by your logic.

As for England and Scotland, i agree Scotland had a tough group and did very well. But the upshot is, if England qualify, they're in the finals on merit and tough group or not, Scotland unfortunately didnt do enough.

There arent any flukes over 12 or 14 games, the sides who qualify have earnt it and deserve it.

They could pick up a trick or two with horse racing though.

I agree with the rest of your post. But Scotland with a bit of luck (player in an offside position for the second goal) they would have still been with a chance.

Who will you be rooting for next summer? I forget your nationality. For some reason, french rings a bell though

If you look in my genealogy tree, you'll find a bit of french, english, irish and welsh. Fact.

Don't tell the last bit to Kaip though.

Don't worry, it will still be rigged so that England end up with Austria, Turkey and Poland.

                            They'd probably struggle.

In fairness, the home teams have a big advantage, you only have to look at host's records in big tourneys. also, Greece are a good side but not that good. Anyway, any team that's qualified should be of a high enough standard to have a chance to qualify from ANY group.

Someone on the radio made a good point about this earlier. Most of the teams will actually prefer to finish 2nd in their group so they face one of the top seeds rather than the second seeds who will be made up of stronger teams.
