    Kendall keen on Republic position

Former Everton boss Howard Kendall has said he would like to be the next Republic of Ireland manager.
Kendall revealed he had made enquiries about succeeding Steve Staunton and that he would like ex-England star Peter Beardsley to be his number two.

"I have had long enough out of it now and I feel it would be perfect for me and hopefully for them," he said.

Kendall, 61, also managed in Spain and Greece and had spells in charge of Manchester City and Sheffield United.

His last managerial job in England was his second spell at Everton, which came to an end in 1998, but it was during his first spell at Goodison Park that the club enjoyed major success.

In a six-year period in the 1980s the club won the league twice, the FA Cup and the European Cup Winners' Cup.

Kendall rejected any suggestion his time away from management would count against him.

"Look at the CV and go through the history of what I have done," he said.

I saw the interview on SSN. He sounded unbalanced or senile or both. Starting to get worried that all the prime candidates are looking for one final paycheck and knowing the idiots in charge they'll probably hire Kendall.
You can agree with me, or you can be wrong.

There are some amount of clowns being touted for this job. No surprise there then, the FAI is a joke.

In fairness, he put himself forward, no mention of the FAI enquiring about him.

EDIT: But yeah, he's a clown
Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

He can fook off if he thinks he can just come in after nearly 10 years away from football and be even considered for a top job....it's not like his grandson's sunday team FFS!!!

I no longer have a clue who I'd like. Venebales might indeed do a decent job. How attack minded is he though? The last thing we need is another manager who likes his team to drop deep late on to try and hold onto a 1 goal lead!

We have some damn good players in attacking positions. Duff, R Keane, Hunt, McGeady, A Reid, Doyle, S Ireland etc. If we could get an attacking manager who gets the best out of that lot and instills confidence into them, we could very EASILY qualify for the world cup. and I don't mean through the playoffs, the Italians could easily be finished ahead of if we can actually get the best from our lads.

None of the candidates inspire any confidence whatsoever.

Whoever we get will have a big job on their hands.
