Just to see the face of Irish in there, that would be a fantastic appointment.

I believe Mourinho is using the english job as a smokescreen.

As we speak, word is, he's preparing a dossier on how he'll run our Irish team, upto and including winning the next world cup, ongoing world domination etc etc

          Ha Ha. Classic.

I'd like to see him throw his bottle opener into the ring for the England job if he thinks he can cut it as an international manager.

It's pretty obvious what his motives are - he heard that the people in Ireland are constantly feeding Jack Charlton free pints after his stint as manager...

                    Kendall keen on Republic position

Former Everton boss Howard Kendall has said he would like to be the next Republic of Ireland manager.
Kendall revealed he had made enquiries about succeeding Steve Staunton and that he would like ex-England star Peter Beardsley to be his number two.

"I have had long enough out of it now and I feel it would be perfect for me and hopefully for them," he said.

Kendall, 61, also managed in Spain and Greece and had spells in charge of Manchester City and Sheffield United.

His last managerial job in England was his second spell at Everton, which came to an end in 1998, but it was during his first spell at Goodison Park that the club enjoyed major success.

In a six-year period in the 1980s the club won the league twice, the FA Cup and the European Cup Winners' Cup.

Kendall rejected any suggestion his time away from management would count against him.

"Look at the CV and go through the history of what I have done," he said.

That's piss poor journalism. Kendell managed Everton on three occasions.
