Allardyce hits out at his players
Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce is unhappy that his future as manager is in the hands of his under-performing players.
The pressure on Toon boss Allardyce intensified after their dismal 1-0 defeat at Wigan on Boxing Day.
Magpies owner Mike Ashley was among the 5,500 travelling fans and heard the majority voice their frustration at their side's performance.
And when asked if he was happy that his future is in the hands of his players, Allardyce said: "No, not really."
The Magpies boss added: "But these are the players I've got. Some I've bought and some I haven't.
"Some have showed me what they can do, in fact most of them have showed me what they can do on the good side of things.
But too many are showing me what they can do on the bad side of it.
Newcastle, 11th in the table with 26 points from 19 games, managed one shot on target at Wigan.
Ryan Taylor's second-half free-kick was enough to hand the Latics a victory at the JJB Stadium and increase the pressure on Allardyce's future at St James' Park.
Allardyce laid the blame for the defeat squarely at the feet of his team and agreed with the supporters' assessment of the performance.
He added: "If I was them I would be singing what they sang because we're not good enough."
"I know it's not good enough, so it doesn't take much for them to work out it's not good enough. They are not daft.
"The level of form the players have dropped to is unacceptable."
Former Newcastle and England winger Chris Waddle believes the pressure will be eased on Allardyce if the former Bolton boss buys creative players in the January transfer window.
"The fans are frustrated because they like their entertaining football and the football now is not entertaining," Waddle told BBC Radio 5 Live.
"When Kevin Keegan came back to the club he brought a lot of entertaining football and the fans thoroughly enjoyed what they were seeing.
"Now the football is not entertaining. They have not got creative players. On the whole they have not got players who entertain the crowd and the football is very direct at times.
"The fans will stick by them because they are so loyal to the club but I think it will be interesting in January if he (Allardyce) brings in a couple of flair players."

Horrible corrupt **** of a man. Soon to be sacked by Newcastle, no England Job available, it's all go wrong for him.
