I think Alladyce has to be given time to create the pattern of play he wants. He has had to overhaul a club with a bad culture of under-achievement and a terrible defense. He has bought in a lot of new players and a different philosophy to the team. He needs to be allowed to bed this in before people start bleating about their lack of creative players.
They have Emre, Duff, Milner, N'Zogbia and Viduka which is a decent core and with a solid goal scorer in Martins they have most of what they need offensively to progress IMO.
It all depends on the new owner. Under that imbecile Shepherd, as soon as things started to go wrong, and the fans turned - can't have the natives not perusing the club shop, can we? - the manager was always the fall guy.

The fans have turned. So what now?
I suspect he has until the end of the season with a very limited January budget to show improvement. He wasn't Ashley's choice and I think he wants to see something more like Man City happen with the team.

Newcastle need to realise that Rome wasn't built in a day. They have had allsorts of managers since their glory time with Keegan and they haven't been exactly title contenders since. Sam Allardyce was the fans choice so they need to rally behind him and encourage the team, not boo it when they hoof it forward. It is going to take time, they need to first get a top ten finish this season which will be some improvement on the seasons that have gone by.
Allardyce was born with the mentality at Bolton that they were the underdog so they could sit with their 4-5-1 system and let teams attack them and hit them on the break or score with a set piece. Now with Newcastle who clearly suffer from delusions of grandeur, they want to see attacking football. If they concede 5 and score 4, they will be happy because they have been entertained. Its something that has happened since Keegan was there. What Keegan done could simply have been the worse possible thing to the club. That brand of football, that number 9 scoring 30 goals, is what the fans want but with Allardyce's inability to bring in new players during the season, long injury list especially Michael Owen who would make a difference against some of the clubs they play, they will just have to tough out the bad times and enjoy the old days until some success comes. When that success will come, you can guarantee every Geordie will be singing Fat Sam's praises. For the meantime, lets all laugh at the underachievements of Newcastle.
I think Owen has been a problem for Sam actually. He seemed to want to show he could handle a big player as an interview for England and played him when it wasn't best for the team or Owen. I really think that Owen at this stage of his career doesn't fit in the pattern of play Alladyce is trying to establish and both would benefit from him being sold.

Yep, Allardyce wants to establish a hard working, very disciplined side with big strikers who can handle a bit of the rough stuff. At this moment, with Owen being in and out of the side, it just disrupts the preparations of the team and with the money they paid for Owen, he has somewhat of a divine right to start.
