They really are strugging to fill their ground!

Truants will be given cheap Premier League tickets to lure them back to the classroom.

Everton FC have come up with the scheme to help cut absenteeism in Merseyside schools.

The club will sell tickets to schools at heavily slashed prices because they can not fill their ground and offer cash back for bigger orders similar to the Tesco promotions. Pupils in deprived areas who work hard will also be rewarded with cheap pies at half time and a free Everton kit if they attend all classes during the year.

Steve Wilson, a learning mentor at Mosscroft primary school in Huyton, called the idea "fantastic".

He said: "We battle truancy all the time. The excitement of a game might help us."
