Why on earth any manager with a half decent job would leave to manage Newcastle is beyond me. Even if by some miracle you won a trophy it'd be 'about time too' and they'd then want a geordie to take over the squad that you'd built. Plus of course the fact that you'll get about 6 months to win them the title before they sack you!

Daft move if he goes. Makes a mockery of that 'Pompey are the only club for me' stuff he came out with when he left Southampton.

I actually think they should go for Moyes. He might be a bitter ******* but to get a team punching above their weight consistently is no mean feat.

Agree. He was hated when he left to go to Soton - this would really **** the Pompey fans off.

Moyes is on to a very very good thing at Everton. He clearly loves it, the fans love him & Everton have much more chance of winning things & going places

(Argh, pains me to say that)

Moyes' style of football has always been dour - exactly the sort of tripe they're trying to move away from.

True but you can't polish turds. Got to work with what you've got.

When you've got Lee Carsley pulling the strings in midfield it's never going to be like watching Brazil.

But watching Newcastle with Moyes in charge would be like watching Brazil, what with Barton and Alan Smith pulling the strings!

Moyes is undeniably doing a decent job (THIS season - next year they'll be 17th to carry on the pattern) but they won't go for him in a million years.

He has come out and said he is going nowhere
Just look at the face: it's vacant, with a hint of sadness. Like a drunk who's lost a bet.

Good man. Delighted he's rejected the opportunity to manage that circus of a club. It's a poison chalice. Has there been any manager to leave that club reputation entact? It's pretty much destroyed most managerial careers.

Apparently it was his missus that didn't fancy swapping the balmy Dorset coast for the industrial wastelands of the North east

And shearer has let it be known (sources close to etc) that he would like the job

go on alan...............lead them forward to another 50 years of mediocrity
Lawrenson:"Well thats 3 good chances they have had in the first 3 minutes of this half"

Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"

Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"

Just seen him on SSN and he said his missus had no input.

Great interview - fair play to Redknapp.

I wouldn't swap Sandbanks for Whitley Bay either.
                            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Good decision by him. He'll keep Pompey in and around the top 6 till he retires I reckon, maybe a couple of cup finals with favourable draws. Maybe a shot at the England job if it comes up again.
