Sometimes we lose sight and think we are better than we actually are. Same as with Liverpool.

How often do you think Duff will play. Yes Dunne is a great player. But his partner is McShane. The alternative is O'Shea ffs. Who are our fullbacks now that Finnan is gone.

And if you seriously think the the 2 Reids and Carsley will cut it against the top teams then ur sadly deluded.

We've got maybe 5 good players the rest are mediocre at best.

Huh? They were one of the favourites the year the won it and had finished second the year before
I've given the fact that what's let us down recently is playing defensively against opposition poorer than ourselves, which he would cut out.
He obviously has motivational, organisational and tactical skills to get Blackburn to do what they did. I don't care how much he did or didn't spend, fact is on paper they were still weaker tha at least 3 or 4 other teams in the league.
Or millions upon millions. He couldn't have done it without the money. I think they had a better team than everyone else that year, certainly the best strike partnership and they had a pretty solid defence
What else can an international manager do.... There aren't to many young Irish lads around to be scouted so they will get chance if they're good enough and having Houllier would be no advantage in the area of bringing youngsters through

Houllier has won a trophy with an underage team. I can't think of any players that Dalglish helped develop from a youth. Houllier was involved with the youth set-up in France that went on to become one of the most succesdful team ever.
Anyway I'm bored of this now. I'd be happy with either, but I think Houllier would have a much better chance of success.

Also, I'd be HAPPY with a drw away under Houllier, i won't expect awin anywhere going by LFC away results under him!

Anyway, hope the anti footballer proves me wrong. (He might with results but probably not with his woeful style of footy)
Silly argument, it could get worse under any manager. And Houlliers away results in the league aren't as bad as you suggest anyway. Anyway I'm done this time.

That's what I said, I don't think his good background with youngsters will be of much benefit as there are not many around, therefore his advantage over dalglish in thsi department is irrelevant. Every youngster of any potential round these parts is known about and will get their chance under wahtever manager we have. (if they don't give up at 16 like most do, that is)

Just one last point. Under Houllier in the PL, we next to never came back from behind to win a match. That is not good.

What you got against him? Besides the fact that he's a dirty cheating bung taking cunt that talks like a gangsta that is.

In footballing terms he'll be good IMO.

Also in quan terms, he'll be very good for me although I'd have wasted some winnings hedgeing my bets with Houllier and Hoddle.

                        :wall

Houllier has made the call the the FAI this afternoon and confirmed he's contractually obliged to the FFA. There is a Presidential election coming up and he's standing by the man who appointed him. CNut, I have lost me bollicks on this one.

HEL Tel is poised to take over...............

                            Trapattoni is in the mix

Italian veteran in talks with FAI officials

                            Ireland open Trapp door

                            Trapattoni: Surprise candidate

Sky Sports News sources understand Giovanni Trapattoni is in talks with the Republic of Ireland over becoming their new coach.

The veteran Italian tactician is currently boss of Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg but it is understand that he is close to agreeing a return to international management.

Having engaged in discussions with key figures within the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) hierarchy, Trapattoni is believed to be warming to the idea of becoming Steve Staunton's successor.

Trapattoni has one of the most impressive CVs in world football, having managed Italian titans Milan, Fiorentina, Internazionale and Juventus twice - along with the Italy national side between 2000 and 2004.

He enjoyed two stints at Bayern Munich, before recently spending spells at Benfica, Stuttgart and Salzburg.

The FAI remain hopeful that a new boss will be in place before the friendly with Brazil on 6th February, but for the time being team affairs are being handled by Don Givens, Don Howe and Ray Houghton.

David O'Leary, Lawrie Sanchez, Terry Venables, Steve Coppell, Gerard Houllier and Liam Brady have all previously been linked with the post but it looks as though Trapattoni could be the FAI's surprise choice.
Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

I've heard off someone(who has a contact in the FAI, and apparently called the Staunton appointment before it was announced) that they've already decided on Venables and are deciding today/tonight when they're going to announce it. I assume it'll be before the Brazil game.
