Mel Stirland?"Through me the way into the suffering city,
Through me the way to the eternal pain,
Through me the way that runs among the lost.
Justice urged on my high artificer;
My maker was divine authority,
The highest wisdom, and the primal love.
Before me nothing but eternal things were made,
And I endure eternally.
Abandon every hope, ye who enter here."
And like that… he's gone

Nah Sterland had retired when I came up against him in a 5-a-side league in Dronfield (situated in between Sheffield and Chesterfield). His team and us battled it out at the top all season – a battle royale, it was – both got promoted and had the same rivalry the following season.Originally posted by RedProf View PostI take it you're both on about when you were at school then
An absolute ****ing cunt, he was. I used to score 5s, 6s and 7s nearly every week but the most I managed in a game against them was three. Always low scoring wars of attrition.Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Attilo Lombardo (sp)I've just said Lombardo in the 'ace' players threadOriginally posted by Imy View Post
Attilo Lombardo he was in the the great palace team with the 'legend' Brolin

He was really good for Sampdoria in the early 90s and won several trophies with them. By the time he moved to Palace he was in his 30s and injured a lot. About the only games they won were the games he played in!Like blood on iron

Lombardo was a great player in his prime. Doesn't deserve to be lumped in with this lot of jokers unlike his former Crystal Palace colleagues Dougie Freeman, Clinton Morrisson and Neil Shipperly.A humble guy with healthy desire.
