    Mellor? Linked with Preston.

    Le Tallec?

    Pongo?

Kromkamp? If Alves doesn't come we'll need him as back up for Finnan.

One or both of Dudek or Carson?
I've got a feeling Rafa might just keep hold of Pongolle, Shaggy.

He's a more than decent option as a fourth choice striker, as he offers a little bit of spark and unpredictability, besides, I've been impressed by him in the first two pre-season games.

As for Mellor, Le Tallec, Traore, Diao, Dudek and co, the sooner we get them off the wage bill, the better.

If you insist on slagging off our players, please at least back it up with facts.

Bellamy's average is 14.6 per season over the last 5 seasons.

Crouch's average is 11.2 over the same period.

Feel free to correct me if you have stats before 2001/2002

        My twopenneth-

Pennant- good player, good crosser, easily worth 6 million. Maybe not better than Alves but certainly better value. Anyone who think Lennon is better hasn't seen enough of them to be honest. I like Lennon he's quick and a great dribler but his final ball is BUNK! Pennant has a great final ball/cross and MUCH better shot on him than Lennon. I'm much happier with Pennant than Lennon, I expect Paul Anderson to be much better than Lennon by the end of the season.
Let us not forget the events last season where a lot of people were crying in their beer because we'd overpaid 7 million for Peter Crouch. A lot of people will continue this opinion, but I believe we paid a fair price for Crouch and time will show that 6-7 mill will be a fair price for Pennant. If he signs
rnm is funny, funny like funny haha.

        Goals 2006/7 (CS, PL, CL)
1: Agger, Bellamy, Fowler, Alonso, Garcia
        2: Gonzalez, Kuyt, Riise
        5: Crouch

On the striker front, if Rafa wants Kuyt, then he should go for Kuyt. The striker position is one I think we have strengthened successfully since the turn of the year. A rejuvenated Fowler and Bellamy in and Morientes out. I'm happy with that. If Rafa can get his number 1 target then great, but if he can't then I believe we have the cover in place and maybe Linfield will step up under the guidance of Fowler

I think that it is likely that if we pay as much as

Posted by Johnny H over on KT.

Brum want Pongolle as part of the deal.
Rafa is happy with this but the player isn't.
Also Liverpool and Birmingham have differing valuations of Pongolle.

I think this will be sorted out fairly quickly.

Will be gutted if we sign him. Not good enough IMO. People say he is proven in the Premiership, how? What has he ever done in it?

I don't buy this statistics nonsense about him being the top crosser in the league. Every game I saw him play his crossing was usually poor.

I believe this site is adopting an any source is cool sort of attitude (as a contrast to KT).

I hope this deal goes ahead. Maybe we could try and get them to accept a loan of POngolle until January with an option to extend or buy. I can see why Pongolle wouldn't want to leave for the Championship but I think he badly needs first team football this season. A confidence building spell in the Championship might help him to improve as a player.

I hope I am. It wouldn't surprise me if Rafa gets the best out of him but I am not convinced by his performances in the past.

surely the best english right midfielder is worth more than 3M?! id actually say 5/6M is a fair price for such a promising youngster who has had 2 superb seasons in a row in the premiership
He isn't the best English right-midfielder.

You sound disconcertingly like you're wearing Rafa-blinkers - everything he does is great and not to be questioned.

RAWK and The Liverpool Way do that kind of thing quite well.

As opposed to taking the piss out of all our players and criticising everything and everyone just to get a rise?
