To an extent I agree with you, they were terrible in the tournament.Originally posted by -V- View PostThankfully its not though, the Greek style of football is so so so depressing. Thank god they flopped this time, i couldnt bare to watch another Greek match
But the curious thing is that in qualifying they were a more composed, competent, dynamic team than the Turks. It's strange how it has turned 180 degrees.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

no one can criticize turkey's never say die attitude. there's clearly a lot of anti turk sentiment on here. i for one have enjoyed the drama in their games. they seem to continuously punch above their weight.
i reckon the germans will beat them but come on credit where credits due they knocked out both the czech republic and croatia. superstar england would not have been able to achieve that.

Yeah, come the tournament Rehhagel reverted to type somewhat. He changed the tactics completely against Sweden, they went out with the wrong mentality, got beat and it basically set the tone for the rest of the tournament. Once they lost that game it was going to be difficult to come back.Originally posted by -V- View PostYeah i heard they flew through the qualifiers and walked all over teams. WTF happened then? They went back to boring 8-1-1 formation agen
You have to say credit to the Turks for not betraying their ethos, and going for it.
Oh I agree, they're making all that passion and fervour really work for them and they deserve credit for that. Sometimes, the burden of all that pressure when there is such a fanaticism behind you can be overbearing and can cripple you, but with them it inspires them and they have that bravery to go with it which has seen them get this far.Originally posted by rage View Postno one can criticize turkey's never say die attitude. there's clearly a lot of anti turk sentiment on here. i for one have enjoyed the drama in their games. they seem to continuously punch above their weight.

But they have had a great deal of luck in this tournament as well, and I still think reaching the semis has flattered them somewhat. I mean during the 90 mins yesterday they were pretty average.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

It's a good analogy, I think. They've also been dull as **** in some passages of the games, as we were under Houllier, but they'll keep going and won't give in. Credit to them for that.Originally posted by looprevil View PostThey kind of remind me of us under Houllier - we won some games we didn't even turn up for!!White liquid in a bottle = Milk

Say what you like about Turkey but their games have been incredible. I will remember their comeback against the Czechs forever and last night was pretty stunning too. This **** is the reason we all love football. Absolutely amazing. What a great tournament - huge contrast with the last World Cup.Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I agree, the Turks have added a great deal to the tournament, and they deserve credit for it. They have a bravery you cant help but admire, they've used the passion to inspire them, not overawe them. I wish the current Greek team showed the same character.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostSay what you like about Turkey but their games have been incredible. Indeed but that's what everyone will always remember.
And in fairness to the Turks they were outstanding in the 2nd half against Switzerland and were also much the better side for the whole of the second 45 minutes against the Czechs. Those late goals had been coming.
Top entertainment. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Spot on. I also think England's absence from the competition has made it exponentially more bearable than usual and has given people who love football free reign to enjoy the tournament as a footballing spectacle, rather than another excuse to jump on the Ingerland bandwagon.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostSay what you like about Turkey but their games have been incredible. Some of the football has been of the absolute highest quality and some of the games are probably the best I've seen on any international stage. What the **** I'm going to do with myself when it's all over I don't know.

I think a lot of us - during the season-proper - go on about how we hate international football. In reality I think we all mean we hate England and the bull**** that goes with it.
I ****ing love these international tournaments. The last World Cup was **** and maybe I lost some faith in international tournaments, but this has certainly restored it. I've barely missed a kick and found myself screaming involuntarily on my sofa. When Nihat buried that superb winner against the Czechs I roared "HE'S SCOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRED!".

Just cannot wait for Holland v Russia this evening (fancy Russia, I must say) and I'm even more excited about Spain v Italy. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
