    Keita signs for Barca

Nic83's bum buddy Seidou Keita has signed for Barca for just over £10mill.

Barça paid the €14million release clause in Keita's contract at Sevilla to take him to the Camp Nou, where he will sign a four year contract, with a release clause set at an all-but unreachable €90million.

Keita was happy to see the deal finally completed and is looking forward to the chance to prove himself in front of the Barça faithful.

"I had many offers, but I have liked Barcelona for a long time," he told reporters.

"I do not like to speak too much because I usually do my talking on the field, not off it. I will just say that I hope to contribute a lot to Barça, as I have done at Sevilla."

The Mali international midfielder becomes the first signing of the Josep Guardiola era at the Camp Nou and is delighted to have signed for such a big and well respected club.

"I am very content because Barcelona are a great club. Negotiations went smoothly because I was glad for the chance to play for Barça, although clearly the negotiations between them and Sevilla were more difficult."

Keita will become the ninth African player to play for Barcelona, following in the footsteps of players such as Mendonça, Suffo, Eto'o, Toure, Amunike, Okunowo, Babangida and Serigne, who have all strutted their stuff at the Camp Nou.

Guess they wont be going after Xabi then

He has looked a class act for Sevilla, but then Yaya Toure, who plays a similar position for Barca has also looked good.

Where did he play before Sevilla? In France? He seems to have appeared from nowhere and doesnt exactly look like a youngster.

He is younger than Essien. I expect him to become like Essien with Pep who is an exceptional coach.

Essien is 25 and Keita is 28. Anyway, fantastic signing for them. He can play the holding role and the more advanced role. Gives them flexibility to play 4-4-2 and can slide into their regulation 4-4-2. He's much better technically than Yaya Toure, his short passes are fantastic and in a way like Masch he always gives an option to the defenders to play a short easy ball when holding. And even though they've been overhyped because of those goals against Madrid his long shooting is decent. Very good player and good signing. If we sign Barry for more than him I'll be disgusted.

Ahh, oh right. Essien is better in that sense.

I dont know about Keita. He has come out of nowhere really. He looks fantastic at times....but i just dont trust African PLAYERS. They all seem to be greedy/moody, and we have had terrible luck with them.

Perhaps you are thinking of the younger (Sid??) Keita that plays in france for Lens I think... Plays the same position and quite talented. I even think there is another Keita at Lyon but around 28 as well.

Im sure that sounded worse than you meant it to Harvey, you might want to rephrase it slightly
