Tottenham have agreed a deal to sign Giovani dos Santos from Barcelona.

The Mexican forward will sign a five-year contract in a move which will cost Spurs an initial £4.7m and rise to £8.6m depending on appearances.

Barcelona have retained the right to 20% of any fee should the 19-year-old move on from Spurs in the first two years of his spell with the club.

And, according to the Spanish club's website, they will get 10% of any fee if he is sold later in his contract.

          More to follow.

Interesting deal. Good up front price but the talk of him wanting a big deal at Barca would make you wonder as to whether the overall package is as good as it seems. I would imagine the player sees it as a stepping stone to something bigger as well.

How is that fantastic business for Barca?

The lad is only 19 and has a real chance of developing into a class player. I think they have let him go too cheap, especially in todays market. Spurs will hope that he will be worth 20-25m in a few years

Dos Santos struggled at Barca even when playing for Barca B or whateva they are called. His 'potential' and being dubbed the new Ronaldinho was all just clever hype from Barca, he has been piss poor at Barca this season and towards the end of the season he was being booed by Barca fans as they realised he is overhyped and imo he believed all the hype around him and seemed arrogont on the pitch at times. He struggled in a league where you have time on the ball and he cried every time he got a kick in the shin, he will have issues adopting in the PL imo. Of corse this is just my opinion but i think their is a reason why no big clubs were interesting in him but maybe spurs scouts saw something eveyone else didnt.
