Proper Ronaldo's career going belly up

    no way!!!!!!!!
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't those jokers at AC Milan say that they still believe he has a future with them?

What a flaming waste. Looks more like Craig Charles on his holibobs than one of the greatest players of his generation. It baffles me just how undisciplined and, ultimately, ungrateful footballers can be these days.

              Understandable in a way though.

You spend 10 years having to maintain the strictest discipline that as soon as you stop playing it's easy to let yourself go. He wouldn't be the first sportsman to do it.

You're being a little pious there mate.

He's hardly been a waste. He's played football at the very, very top level since his teens. He's won a fair few medals in that time.

It looks as though his career is pretty much over due to that knee injury he suffered earlier this year.

So he's let himself go a little?. **** we're all human.

I have very little sympathy (injuries aside) for any player who disregards his duties to maintain a good physical condition considering the ridiculous amounts of money they are paid, as well as the availability of top facilities and physio training they have at their disposal. Ronaldo was a known party animal even before his days at Inter and it seems as though Ronaldinho is following down the same path, which is a travesty thinking about the talent they have/had.

Obviously he's within his rights to treat his body whichever way he chooses, but it has to be said that the latter years of his career were spoiled by a string of disciplinary issues and lack of concern over his fitness. The likes of Sheringham and Hyypia are players who should be applauded for their dedication to their career, whereas Ronaldo's career is almost at a standstill at the ripe old age of 31 and Ronaldinho's is on a serious downturn before reaching 29. Both players could easily have played top-level football til their mid-30s in my opinion.

Add to that the fact that these players are still receiving over £100k a week from their clubs and I think their attitude has to be brought into question.

Fair enough but as spud says his career is pretty much over so it doesn't really matter what physical condition he's in.

Now, if that was a picture of Torres and we were expecting him back at Melwood in a week I'd be a bit concerned...
