I feel for Palace on the other hand in that there appears to be no sell on clause, appearance bonus' of any other monetary incentives to sell.

Also, the way Bostock left has soured his time at Palace too. He will never be welcome back there.
    Welcome mate.

I think it is difficult for the tribunal to get these valuations right. Do you know if it is a flat fee or if it can increase due to performance (i.e. England caps etc.). Maybe something like the later or a sell of fee might make these decision seem fair to both sides.

It is a good point about souring his time at Palace. From that point of view it is a shame for all concerned.

Personally I think that the sales of lower league "future stars" such as Bale and Walcott have gone for stupid money, prices which I think are over-inflated vastly for the levels of ability when they were bought given that they weren't playing at the highest level.

That said the tribunal is supposed to protect the clubs like Palace and ensure they get a fair deal which compared to Bale and Walcott prices they aren't. So for me I guess the key question is, should the tribunal value a player on potential rather than ability?? As things stand I'm assuming the £700k is based on the players current level of ability, where as it's obvious that Spurs interest is in his potential so I guess that being the case the tribunal should value him on a similar basis

Maybe they should have given Palace soem kind of deal, such as a 50% right to any future transfer or a fixed sum if he played for England etc...

What I don't get is, Spurs had already offered something like £1.4m right? Which means they were obviously willing to pay that much. Therefore wouldn't it make sense for the minimum tribunal amount to match that bid?

If that's the case then that makes the tribunal decision totally crazy

              No wonder Jordan's hacked off!!

They're just excuses mate - they're both similar blokes....at least in terms of their forthright opinions and straight-talking.
                They're subtle differences actually

Seems like there is more to this than Mr Orange led us to believe...

Tottenham could eventually pay more than £2million to Crystal Palace for promising midfielder John Bostock, it has emerged.
Palace chairman Simon Jordan was angered by a Football League tribunal ordering Spurs to give a £700,000 down-payment on the 16-year-old but there are other clauses that could see the total rise.

The Premier League club will pay an extra £1.45million if Bostock makes 40 appearances for his new club and a full international debut.

Palace will also get a 15 per cent cut of any future deal to take the youngster away from White Hart Lane, with the fresh details emerging from a letter to a Palace supporters' group from the league.
