KEANE...As seen from a Yids perspective...

This is one of the more eloquent points made on the major Spurs board I use.

"It's so obviously orchestrated, that you'd be blind not to see it.

Levy: "I'll kick up in the press, and make it look like we're sorry to see him go"

Fat Spaniard: "If you could throw in a Premier League complaint to make it look authentic, that would help"

Levy: "Sure, then you say 'Sorry' and we'll withdraw it. Everybody's happy! Well, everyone who counts".

Benitez, Keane and Levy - an accurate representation of what football has become.

It also seems to reflect most of the fans opinions. Some say we should have held out for more money but we all have those type of supporters! Quite a few think it's a master stroke money wise.

I should think that's my last word on the drawn out saga. I gave my thoughts on another thread but it's always nice to see what's going on elsewhere.

You cant start a thread and say this is your last word on the subject.

On Keane, i think the Spurs fans will be hurting, they loved Keane, and like many fans in this situation some tend to lash out, others feel the need to state the case, that their club of course got the best deal, very few tell it as it is.

It's all part of supporting your club, the ones shouting the loudest about how lucky they are he's gone for the cash they got will likely be the ones hurting the most, but you wont hear them admit it.

It's happened to us, and it will again, as it will to Spurs, it's how football is.

I think his true value, given his age, is about £14m or so.

But when a club doesnt want to sell, you always have to pay over the odds.

Money wise, Spurs have done well with this.

Overall though, they have just confirmed what many people already thought - they are not a big club, they are a selling club which nurtures players and then step aside when the big boys come calling, despite wanting to keep the player.

We saw it with Carrick, we've seen it with Keane and will probably see it with Berbatov too.

Missing out on that 4th place a couple of seasons back and that whole 'lasagne-gate' fiasco was what cemented their status as not being a big club. Had they got into the Champions League, things might've been different.

Spurs will eventually get into the Champions league, not sure they'll do it regularly like, but just as i believe we'll win the title, i think teams like Spurs, Villa if investment keeps coming, etc will make 4th place once or twice over the next decade, maybe, one of them anyway, perhaps, could do, i'm not saying defo, but possibly.

It's possible but like you said, it probably would only happen on a one-off basis. Like everton.

I still think the top 4 are some distance ahead of the 'rest'.

Afraid to say yep, I agree. Of course we are a big club. Agter all, we are the second most watched team in the history of football. Fact!

Problem is, now the top four are so far ahead moneywise, the rest are seen as minnows!

But, we are who we are, eh?

When i said you're not a big club, i didnt mean that rudely or offensively. I just meant, there are clubs who go out and buy other club's best players to make them stronger. Spurs are the kind of club those big clubs go to, and Spurs sell their best players.

Under that philosophy, Spurs will never break into the top 4.

You can't exactly say the top four are miles ahead in terms of money, you spent £16million on Bent or was is £18million I can't remember anyways he never really played did he.

You also spent £16million on Modric this season and a little on Giovanni Dos Santos. Tottenham year in year out spend more money than Arsenal and I agree not finishing in 4th a couple of years ago really hurt you as a club.

City also have money to spend and can match and maybe better some of the top four.

Under that banner Craig I can't argue mate. I didn't take it offensively mind. Just a fact I like to throw out there now and then! (We don't have much else to shout about)

I'm really pleased that Keane is getting the number 7 shirt. He's the nearest thing I've seen to KK in my life. You'll love the geezer. We do.

Oh....did I mention? He will score against us THREE times this season.
                    Mark my words.

This was so obviously orchastrated it's untrue and I reckon the conversation went pretty damned near exactly as that poster put it.

We tap him up, you get pissed off but quite like the idea of cashing in, you sell making out you were forced to do so and to play along with the game we make a donation to your charity whilst re-inforcing the fact that your club didn't want to let go of this player. It's so obvious it is painful and really quite a piss take by the spurs board. I wonder how much the "donation" was

But to me this scenario is worse, it looks like we gave Spurs a pat on the head and said right on your way son, here's a quid for some sweets.
