Because u need to adjust prices according to the transfer record at the time as it is the transfer records that dictate the market. Modric was bought when Zidane @ 47 million quid was the record - that has to be adjusted to the current record of 80 million that Real paid for Ronaldo.
Thereby making Robinho the most expensive player in England @ 55 million pounds & not Torres...

Er, if you are revaluing transfers in line with some sort of inflation, your definition of inflation should not be based on 2 transfers but an average of all transfers in the 2 years of measurement, or at the very least, a representative sample of transfers in those 2 years.

I still think there should be something in place which stops a £25m player going out on loan. Perhaps loans between teams in the same league can only be allowed if a player is under a certain age and classed as a "development loan" or something.
