Same reason as Madrid sack off last year's flavour, for the hell of it

They will have brought in more £'s than sent out when they sell Bale. Asset strippers, no ambition, blah, blah blah

They probably only signed him because we wanted him.

He could be but I doubt that.

I rate him as a better player than Bale I think that he will end up at Real Madrid/PSG/Monaco in a couple years time and Spurs making a big profit.

Lucky we didn't buy him then if he's going to move on to a big club. If we sell our big players our owners are asset strippers, if Spurs do it (as they regularly seem to do) then they're great businessmen

If we did business like that this summer, yes even if it meant just using money from selling Suarez, there would be few complaints here.

The fact that they have only used the money they got in is testament to the work of Daniel Levy and cannot really be seen as short changing their manager. Far from it, that is how you back a manager.

They are great businessmen if you consider the fantasy money they got from players like Modric and very soon Bale.

I would never call FSG asset strippers if they sold Suarez for £90m and signed players for £100m+.

I would call that great business and FSG a lot more.

We decided to keep hold of our world class player. There'd be **** loads of complaints if we'd sold Suarez, even for £50m amongst our fans and many slating the club for a lack of ambition and accepting being mid-table, regardless of who we signed. To say otherwise is bull imo.

Personally I don't think Bale is world class or worth anywhere near £75m. It's a good deal for them. They've re-invested it back in the team and the net spend is zero. Wonder where their tv money has gone though?

If we could get a world record fee for Suarez I think 99.9% would say sell him, especially if that money was used similar to the way Spurs used theirs. For £50m we should never sell Suarez, and we haven't sold him, so whats your point?

See Arn's post for the rest, it makes complete sense.

To me, its just a collection of good young players lacking top end talent and without enough experienced talent. They've lost that elite talent who can win you a game from nowhere. They've not bought a real talisman like the Mancs did with RVP and relying on all these different languages/nationalities just work somehow in our league. Massive, massive pressure on a manager in AVB who miserably crumbled under similar pressure at Chelsea as well.
I actually think they've bought a good mix of youth and experience:
Paulinho, Soldado and Capoue are pretty experienced. Add that to the likes of Vertongen, Lloris, and Sandro and you've got a solid core of senior players out there. If I had to pick one leader, I'd probably go for Vertongen.

There's pretty big pressure on AVB, but he'll always be able to fall back on losing their 'talisman' (Bale), and needing time for the new players to gel - both valid arguments imo. They've put together a really excellent squad this summer (building for the present as well as the future). Once they do gel, they should be in an excellent position whereby they'll only need to tinker in future windows.

After spending £80m+ in this window, I don't think he's going to have any excuses, regardless of selling Bale. He's going to have to deliver Top 4 or he's going to get sacked.
