That post only showed that we are making the same kind of gambles, nothing else really.

Time will tell who made the best gambles.

The same shortcomings in both projects because it is unproven players in both cases.

    Gambles.

It's the usual confection of guesswork built on assumptions.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Like almost everyone else then. Do you think anyone know any facts when they talk about the future?

No, they guess based on assumptions and what they believe will happen. Just like me.

No, that's another mistake actually, not like you.

It's possible to make some reasonably informed predictions about the future. And then there's just stupid, speculative nonsense, based on preconceptions and careful selection of facts, and omission of information that contradicts it.

Your predictions largely fall into the latter camp.

Although the good news is Alonso is rejoining and Henderson is to be sold. That's what you said back in April. I can hardly wait.

Although now with a bit of anti-Semitic rhetoric (see above) we've managed to swing nicely from innocent but infuriating to offensive and infuriating so at least nobody can't claim he's making progress.

The bike, Neil!!! The bike!!! They made a mistake in the dispatch, sent the wrong size and by the time anyone had noticed the 56s were all gone! If I want this years model I need to put in another £300 as the store will only take £150 off for their mistake so it's back to the drawing board!! *******s

                F*ck, what a bunch of f*ckers!

The Giant Defy gets good write ups around here.

Although really they should just take the hit. Their profit margin is probably about 30%, maybe more, so they can afford it without actually making a loss. It's their mistake.

That was my argument too. They practically begged me to take a refund but said they might be able to do something when the whole range is in so I'm sitting tight for a few weeks. All very annoying as I'd ordered shoes, pedals etc too so thought I was ready to go. I wish halfords knew their arse from their elbow as the new team boardman road has been getting great write ups!!

And no, Fredo. Although you should really know better

I would say that my guesses isn't ill informed or something like that in this case because it happened before at Arsenal when it comes down to the stadium.

How much do you think we will get if we sell Alberto in a couple of years time if he flops? How much do you think that Spurs will get if they sell Lamela in a couple of years time if he flops?

If you then look at the numbers then you will probably discover that the loss would be more or less the same.

What do I base that on? Many other transfers. Expensive players have flopped but the club still got a good price when they sold him if he wasn't to old.

If a player like Alberto flops that isn't a big name then the value of the player will be almost nothing. What do I base that on? Many other transfers.

Lamela have already proved that the talent is there. He was excellent last season in a very good league.

If Aspas flops then we will get more money for him than we would get for Alberto. The reason being as I already said that he is a player that proved that the talent is there in very good league.

The thing is that if we assume that Albertos wages, signing on fee and agents fees were a fraction of those of Lamela (which I think seems reasonable given the transfer fee and reputations of the players) then the equation is far less obvious. A good example of how those factors can have a big impact on the worth of a transfer would be Aquilani.

This is a good example of how an answer should look like. Instead of moaning, follow this example.

A very good post discussing the topic instead of discussing me or any other poster.

The wages and signing on fee and greedy agents of course also counts.
