In fairness they have generally bought well, but are obviously helped massively by their two best players coming from the youth setup. If they had had to buy those players either that nethe spend figure would be much higher, they wouldn't have players of that quality or they would have to compromise on players that they signed elsewhere.

As good as you youth system might be IMO a large part of it is down to luck. You can probably rely on the odd one or two squad players coming through every few years but you can't rely on producing top quality players regularly.

Around that time and loaned back for a year IIRC. I'm still annoyed we got so close to signing him and missed out. I know many on here hate him but his numbers are great and he's a real talent, albeit a snidey cunt as a player.

I guess saying 'youth setup' may be technically wrong but purchasing and developing young players is really the key/point. They bought Walker and Rose when young and helped them kick on to be really good players. Dier was about 20 and became a starter after a cheap transfer from Sporting.

Add to that the likes of Winks and Walker-Peters who have been useful for them in the last couple of seasons and their development work is pretty strong looking.

I’d stop supporting us if I had to watch Alli’s **** face every game.

I had forgotten that they signed Alli as a youngster but basically yes this was the point.

                      Getting some funding then?

Good for Spurs. I wonder if he's set his sights on Wenger's record minus the trophies

Looks that way, his interview the other day was definetely planned for this. He'll be backed. Although he'll need if he's to replace Dembele and Alderweireld.

They are saying Alderweireld is likely to stay as they have priced him out of a move (they want £75m )

Surely they have to give him a wage rise then They can't do both and expect that to go well.

                              75m. He's no VVD

He has 1 year left on his contract, they have slapped a £75m price tag on him

no way they get near that, even half that I would guess they would be lucky
