A week later:Originally posted by Chris View Post“I saw Liverpool is now in Dubai and all the pundits say Liverpool have the best squad with Manchester City,” Pochettino said at his media conference on Wednesday, “We are still involved in four competitions.”
Bellend.
"Pochettino, who has yet to claim a trophy in his managerial career, admitted disappointment at this rather meek defeat but suggested trophies would not maintain Spurs’ development as a club. “We are going to create a debate that to win a trophy is going to help the club,” he said. “I don’t agree with that. That only builds your ego. In reality the most important thing is being consistently in the top four and playing in the Champions League. That is going to help the club to achieve the last step."

So, maybe Klopp was onto something?

Or perhaps he's being realistic in as far as they need Champions League next season just to pay the bills and their squad isn't strong enough to challenge for trophies.
That stadium seems to be crippling them atm. They really do need Champions League football Parkside more than their rivals.
And he's the manager. He'll put whatever spin he can on to motivate everyone around him. It's his job.Last edited by dom9; 28-01-19, 09:58 AM.Oh I don't know.

I dunno, I think I'd prefer Chelsea and United to miss out.
Abramovich seems to be losing interest and that might be the nail in the coffin for him.
And United, well, they're United. Once they get their **** together (and they will at some point) they will be hard to compete with. The longer this goes on the better. And their incompetence has been a hoot. Enjoy it while it lasts.Oh I don't know.

Of course he's entitled to that, but he had a dig at Liverpool not fighting at all fronts just few days ago, and now cups are only for the ego. I agree with him that in the long term the CL is more important for Spurs than the cups, just like for us, the title is more important than the cups.Originally posted by dom9 View PostOr perhaps he's being realistic in as far as they need Champions League next season just to pay the bills and their squad isn't strong enough to challenge for trophies.

Only one team will find that their cup run will be worth it, madness to risk the league now really, both for us and them.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Prefer United, but for once, I don't really care that much, probably because we are not looking up the table.Originally posted by dom9 View PostPrediction or preference?

City are in it for the long haul and as you said United will eventually get their **** together and/or get sold to competent owners. We need to be well established in the top 3 when that happens.Originally posted by dom9 View PostPrediction or preference?

Man Utd and Chelsea for me too, I'm not so worried about Arsenal or Spurs winning or challenging for stuff. Man Utd and Chelsea could be a threat if they get stuff togetherThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
