It's amazing how they seem to think giving away some crappy flags or scarfs create's an atmosphere, their support is just crap, an atmosphere cant be manufactured.

I find it funny that the game has not even sold out.
        Oh I don't know.

Small gestures such as Mellberg buying all the villa away fans who went to his last game a villa shirt, or all the way back a few years ago when tranmere released a shirt with all the season ticket holders names in the shirt (similair to Alves did in uefa cup final against us)

there is not enough of these gestures today - me and my old man were discussing it recently - we were saying -esp with someone like my dad, season ticket holder for 30 years plus pays for my mum's season ticket that she has had for 20+ years, been to EVERY major final including rome, wembley, dortmund, heysel, cardiff etc etc etc, over the years has spent ****ing thousands and thousands of pounds on merchandise etc etc etc etc - ****ing loves the club - and how many gestures of thanks have the club offered the thousands of fans like my dad! - none! - in fact, do season ticket holders even get discount in the club shop anymore, i'm sure i remember him having a rant they didn't

it doesn't take much - just a small jesture once every now and then - if the club can't afford it then the ****ing players can! - even if it was something small, like getting all the millionaire players to chip in once a season and the last home game of each season they arranged for a special edition programme to be given out to each season ticket holder or whatever.......
Damn right, totally agree, the bigger clubs are shameful, ours included. Season ticket holders like your old fella should be ****in honoured by the club....a set in stone scale of rewards starting at 10yrs having held a season ticket and rising, every 10 yrs the reward should get better.

I'm not talking ****in 50grand...but a meaningful gesture by the club to a staunch lifelong fan who's probably spent that... easy too for the club to do...he's a fan ffs, there's loads of stuff a club could do that would make a fan like him feel honoured.

Very embarassing. They'd pump out crowd noise over the PA system if they could get away with it.

It takes more than a few scarves and cheap plastic flags to make an atmosphere. If the fans can't create it by themselves for the biggest domestic competition in the world then it's already a lost cause.

They will also be holding up cue cards - "Please cheer now" and "We are the team in blue"

                Manufactured club with plastic supporters.

They use Liverpool to define their club. What small timers.

It's like the marketing techniques they use at baseball games I've been to in the US, "everybody gets a hat night" was my particular favourite at a Padres game.

                      What next, this?

****ing cocksuckers the lot of them.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

That was an amazing gesture which blew me away at the time.

Sure, from his pockets maybe not a massive one, but you just don't expect any sort of gesture at all from players these days, for him to organise and pay for all the fans a shirt is pretty special.

exactly - it's not ****ing much to the club - even something small - 10 years alone is a long time to have held a season ticket without getting anything back - something small like a special edition plaque from the club and an free invite for say a meal at anfield when they have like an after dinner speaker on, one of those sort of nights etc

but will they ****! - they know people like my dad will spend the money each year guarenteed so **** 'em - why bother looking after them. The way football clubs are run - u would be more likely to get a free gift off the club for going to a match on a free corporate ticket and not not even like football than you would for purchasing your 10,000 ticket and attending every match for 30 years. -

They don't give a ****. But what upsets me, not so much the clubs - **** em, football is a business and it's all about corporate mentality - it's the millionaire players! They go on how about they used to be fans themselves and would be sitting on the terraces if they hadn't made it. But it's so rare for small gestures like the Mellberg one. - For example, say if we won the league the bonus the players would get would be ****ing huge. - Now how much would it cost for the squad to say get a printed limited edition framed picture of the squad sent to each season ticket holder. - and if the club are so worried about giving away something for free - they could just release another 10'000 numbered editions and sell them anyway to cover the cost
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

                              You ask too much.

You wouldn't get a plaque from Sainsbury's because you do your shopping there every week?
                              Oh I don't know.
