Very good technique, obv - with a dollop of luck.

An overhead from a whipped in cross is a much more difficult technique.

      Been there done that.

Scored a bicycle kick from a corner back in the day.

One of mine was from a cross, other one was a half-cleared corner which I scissor-kicked back in

Scissor kicks.......gotta love them! When you catch it on the sweet spot there is no stopping it.

Have to also add that I have fallen on my arse and had numerous air shots over the years. But I just loved trying the spectacular.

              No chance.

It was good, but van Basten's in the Euro 88 final was better. As was Maradona's against England in 86. As were many other goals.
              Oh I don't know.

I think a fresh air is less embarrassing than a horribly miscued effort that goes out for a throw

Speculative attempt from one of the worlds most overhyped strikers. Nothing more, nothing less

I think we are being unfair to the guy, I really do.

Love him or hate him (which it seems most do ) he has a career full of pretty spectacular goals. He is a player who dares to try the extraordinary and I think we should applaud him and salute the incredible skills rather than dismiss it as speculative. Isn't every attempt at the spectacular speculative?

Lets appreciate it, it really was something very special. And from a special player.

He's a fantastic player, but there's no escaping he *is* a bit of a flat track bully. Not that there's anything wrong with that - they win you titles, given the vast majority of teams he will face will be inferior to the team he plays for. He is found wanting at the very, very top end of the game IMO but like I said there's no shame in that.

                          Thats rather throwaway.

I know it was 'only' England. But scoring 4 goals at international level is very good. Not many do it. I dont think he is over hyped. But then again, the only hype I hear over him is to do with something of a Cult figure.

It was speculative. But loads of goals are.

As someone above said. If it was Suarez, we would all be jizzing our pants.

I can't think of many strikers I would rather have in my team in the past 10 years. He is skillfull, strong, great finisher/header really the most complete forward of his generation. Not by chance he recieved the Golden Foot award this year.

Watching Messi etc dance around defenders to score demonstrates far more skill and is far more impressive imo. Andy Carroll (or any other meh striker) could have scored Ibra's goal (ok, maybe one time in a thousand), but he could never score one like this
