Butcher isn't in charge though is he? I think George Burley is the Manager.

    Agree with your sentiment though.

            Christ

Total lunatic but probably the best footballer the world has ever seen imo.

Had anyone watched his documentary? It’s brilliant.

                      Same. I remember ‘82 a bit, but I was only 7.

That game v England was pure Maradona. Zero ****s given and absolute insane talent.

And then what he did with Napoli was absolutely stunning.

Same. Me and my Dad. I think I was wide-eyed with my head in my hands. I remember my Dad going "WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW" and I was just open mouthed. Must've been similar reactions all over England.

Remember how good he was against Belgium

Yeah, it was on channel 4 earlier in the year.

Well worth checking out for anyone who hasn't seen it.

He went totally off the rails at Napoli. Probably the worst club in the worst he could have joined. Drugs and the Camorra What could go wrong?

Here's a great article on his time there and the documentary

Seem to recall the Gary Lineker one being decent before

I remember thinking (obviously with a slightly different POV) that the hand ball goal was a problem. Imagining the media narrative if he had won it with that. I mean it was bonkers anyway but that... just after the war.... it felt like he knew that, and that the way he could fix it was by scoring one of the most beautiful and audacious goals you’ve ever seen. It was staggering. I’d never seen a player just get the ball, run at goal, beat everyone and score!!!

The only other goal that left me like that was Van Bastens volley.

He dismantled a very good Belgium team with similar skills. I absolutely adored him. And he was a rebel His love of the marching powder clearly had a lasting effects, the doc alludes to a lot of his late nights with the Mafia when he was playing the day after He was nuts. Didn’t know how to say ‘no’.
