Always hope Norn Iron and ROI do well but i've no real passion for them as i do have with Liverpool and my local side.
But why is there no passion for the Irish sides, Norn especially?

Good question and without wanting to duck out of it, it's a hard one to explain. I guess because i've only really known Liverpool from an early age, wearing the kits, mags etc, never wore an Ireland top when i was young so as i've grew up with Lpool and my local team.

I lost all interest in the England team, and almost the will to live, when the acronym 'WAGS' started to get used

Although Liverpool always came first I used to have an interest in the national team up until around 2000. The reason I stopped giving one was all the hype of England to win the World Cup and the European Championships blah blah blah. When it was clearly obvious that they weren't good enough, I also hate the over reactions to exits from tournaments and the scapegoat culture created.

Also I can't support most of the players that play for England: Neville, Ferdinand, Cole, Terry, Lampard ... etc. Ok in the past there have been players I didn't like, but could respect, there are very few that the same can be said of now.

Also the fact that many England fans seem to know nothing about football
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

traveling English fans have always been made up of mostly lower league fans and watching England provides the glamour of seeing the top stars, i also believe that the tribal rivalry that exists in the upper tier of english football prevents not only the fans from getting emotionally attached to the england team but also affects the players, i believe thats one of the reasons for England and up until this year spains dismal failure in the top competitions, Spain being on a par with England where rivalry is concerned, maybe the exodus of spanish players to the rest of europe as saw that rivalry diminish somewhat, club football in this country is the life blood with international football being merely an entertaining side show. ps imagine us lot celebrating a gary neville goal for england i dont think so.
