So it's not better to have them fit for the remaining 12 games and to draw the current game, rather than have them out for x amount of weeks because they got injured?

So they're definitively NOT going to be fit if he plays them then?Originally posted by wiw View PostSo it's not better to have them fit for the remaining 12 games and to draw the current game, rather than have them out for x amount of weeks because they got injured?
Absurd logic. But, typically cautious and very Rafa-esque.
Players will always get injured, you dont NOT use them 'just in case'.

not absurd at all..you run the risk don't you? By your logic we should use Torres and Gerrard no matter what the consequences? I'd say it's more pragmatic than cautious, and I can't blame him considering we only have the 2 of them

But when we're in a position where our title challenge has virtually zero margin for error, they should be played if they're not injured. And Torres is off with spain and was on the bench, so he was clearly not injured.
If they cant do 90 mins, give them 45-60 and they're likely to win you the game, then take them off.
You run the risk all the time, anyone can get injured at any time. You dont not play them because of it though.
Do you not leave the house in case a bus runs you over?

I'm sure we've had this discussion before but..maybe he thought Torres would have more impact in 20 mins against a tired defence than he would in 60/70 mins at the start? By your logic though, if we're chasing the game we should keep our best players on the pitch? Wouldn't that mean keeping Torres on for 90?
Do we really want N'gog coming on to rescue us?
and no now you're just being silly

If we're chasing a game and he's not tired, yes he should stay on.Originally posted by wiw View PostStop putting words in mine! I didn't say they'd definitely NOT be fit if he played them

Radical logic, keeping your biggest goal threat on, i know. But hey, i'm a revolutionist. Either that, or just not insane.

lol you say that as if I don't want Torres on the pitch every minute of every game..of course I do. So you're saying that if the score had been 2-1 as it was, and had Torres been inevitably tired, you would have no problem with Rafa taking him off?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostIf we're chasing a game and he's not tired, yes he should stay on.

If he's injured, that's different.

You said if we're chasing a goal and he's not tired. Assuming he was tired, which I'm sure he would've been, you're happy with him being taken off?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostEh? I said if we're chasing a goal, he should stay on.
