Even though Bayern thumped a hapless and very inexperienced Sporting side, you have to believe that Bayern rely far too much on Franck Ribery, who I would put alongside Steven Gerrard, Lionel Messi, Kaka, Ronaldo as world class talismen. Interesting to see Klinsmann stick to a rigid three man defence even though they are far too inconsistent in the Bundesliga and concede some terrible goals.

As Souness said yesterday, there are big named teams but not big teams in the competition which might be considered harsh but its a fair comment. I would certainly say the winners are either Barcelona, United, Chelsea or Liverpool. I think Arsenal might struggle at the Stadio Olimpico and even though Juve performed well against Chelsea yesterday, there is a sense that this Chelsea side under Guus Hiddink will start to pick up some form and Drogba might return to his best form which we haven't seen in nearly one and half seasons.

As much as the Champions League does look appetising to the neutral, you have to believe that the speed and intensity of the top three English clubs and the potent and lethal attacking threat of Barcelona will be far too much for the remaining sides. I would like to be proved wrong (certainly in the case of Inter Milan)in the spirit of competition but its highly unlikely.

I think Juve will do the chavs. Roma will do Arsenal. Liverpool will do Madrid. Inter will get a score draw at the scum dome and go through. All depends on what form the teams are in at the time i suppose. Real Madrid where 12points behined Barca now its only 4 points, im sure they will take heart from that and come out all guns blazing. If Barcelona can drop that many points in the title race why cant United? lol

Not wishful thinking or anything then.

Arsenal will probably score in Rome and Chelsea likewise in Turin.

Inter have a chance, but they dont strike me as a side with goals in them. You'd probably fancy the mancs to score twice at Old Trafford if they need to.

All english sides to go through, IMO.

          Barry Glendenning? Is that you?

I actually agree. Fairly certain Inter will go through at least anyway

He's better than all but one of our attacking players. I'd have him here in a heartbeat.

All this hate for Zlatan is born out of ignorance.

As good as he is & was, he was NEVER worth 40 million pounds AND Samuel Etoo. In fact I thought Etoo was the better player at the time...
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

After scoring 4 goals in a FRIENDLY

He's still not one of the very best players in the world. He's at a level below that.
