Yeah but, this season aside, newly promoted sides should normally be 6 easy points too. Newcastle going down would be very funny.

So we can laugh at them, laugh at Shearer etc. They're also an easy 6 points for nearly everybody else, so it makes no odds.

They're also ****ed financially if they go down because apparently their players dont have clauses on their contracts to reduce their wages if they get relegated

Im usually an old romantic for the well supported clubs, ie I want Leeds back up ASAP, im glad Wolves are back, want rid of Boro etc etc but im out of the country for most of next season so it'd be funny to see them go down. Especially with it being Shearer taking them down.

He'll be happy to play the hero if he keeps them up but wont stick around to get any stick if they go down.

I actually hope they stay up. I despise the way some of their deluded fans go on but they also have alot of genuine, diehard fans who support them through thick and thin.
The prem just wouldn't be the same without them but if they dont win tonight they're ****ed.

I think Newcastle might scrape a win tonight. Popmey were very poor against United last week.

They'll still be deep in the relegation mire though. We play them next week and that will leave them two games that they'll have to win. On current form you just cant see it. Middlesborough have a better chance of avoiding the drop IMO

Anyone seen the pre-match entertainment at the match? Some fat bloke with a massive flag walking round the pitch with a microphone singing in a mock operatic/choral style. He did an old style song then lauched into 'There's only one Alan Shearer' with 'come on' in between lines. Sad.
