. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
who ****in cares really?
we had a rule change according to all the bitters to get in the CL a couple o years ago
let him play - i can see xavi ****tin his pants at being shackled by senor fletch
Indeed we did
Way I see it, Fletcher should by rights be available to play and if they can change rules to make that happen not just for him but have in place a process whereby others decisions can be corrected then I have no problem. If they do it as a one-off, though, then it's a complete disgrace.
Either way, it would be another sad example of that man's ability to influence decisions.

Surely any such rule-changes need to be applied before the CL campaign starts, though.

They did something retrospective for us, I don't see why they wouldn't again. Whether this will be such an occasion I have no idea. However if it means Abidal and Fletcher can play I'm all for it.

Nah, changing it mid season would be very wrong. I'm sure there are teams in the CL who could look back at incidents and say that they would have progressed if the rule had been the same all season. IMO, Fletcher won't play, and rightly so because is was a valid sending off.

"I have spoken with Alex Ferguson personally on this - as fate would have it we shared a car after the match. We were rather thrown together but had an interesting discussion"
WTF is the UEFA General Secretary doing sharing a car with Ferguson. This is more than a little fishy if you ask me, anyone reckon he'd have shared a car with him if he didnt want anything?
Fletcher is key to United and has been one of their best players recently. Anyone who thinks he's **** is quite plainly wrong.
Im sorry but teams that win the European Cup and Premiership double and have a decent chance of doing the same again this year, as much as it is unpalatable to say, do not carry journeymen.
Anyway, who else has he played for rather than United? Surely a journeyman has to play for several clubs at the very least to acquire such a tag.
