Anyway, who else has he played for rather than United? Surely a journeyman has to play for several clubs at the very least to acquire such a tag.
I'm caught here in that I think that fringe players of the sort of quality that might label them 'journeymen' (even though I agree that the tag really refers to players who are good enough to keep getting moves but not to become vital to teams) are carried in top squads and always have been. Usually they are kept for their versatility and work ethic.

However in the United squad I think O'Shea would be the only one I would use the tag for at the minute. Fletcher is a late bloomer but he is now a top player. He is not world class but he has played at CM in big games against big teams and held his own. People seem to hold his slow development against him and I think it is grossly unfair.

You know what I meant though. And he may have improved but he still has few distinctive attributes. None of my manc-supporting mates rate him whatsoever, the way they talk about him evokes memories of Igor Biscan.

Speaking of which, he was in the team for the 2005 semi final.

Winning teams aren't always comprised of 11 world class individuals.

O'Shea, Nani, Evans and Neville are United's truly **** players IMO.

Funny you should say that, from what I've seen I thought Evans did quite well when he came in

He was I think in the side when they went on that long run without conceding.

Didn't Fergie have a go at O'Shea after one particularly ****e performance, saying he should have played Evans instead?

I think Nani is the only out and out turkey there. On his day he is a good player but more often than not a genuine liability.

O'Shea is a utility player and nothing more but he helps balance their squad. He looked like he would be an exceptional player but never lived up to the hype.

Evans - I think it is very harsh to judge him at this stage. He is a young defender and he makes young defenders mistakes but he also filled in during a highly successful defensive run. The jury is out for me.

Neville was a very solid player for a number of years. Now he looks like injuries have taken their toll.
