I see your point. The difference is that I feel Wenger would be interested in having the ability to get players that would help him play the style he wants rather than the Galacticos methodology of getting the biggest name players in and leaving the problem of making them play in a coherent team to the coach. I think even in Spain the lack of success of that policy in terms of winning major competitions has been noted.
Yes, I can see that. To be honest my main point was simply to suggest Fabregas might follow him before anyone else said it.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

      Yes, that looks likely.

Then again perhaps another manager would come in and add to the squad by buying the experienced players they need rather than sticking with Wenger's long-term planning. I'd agree it's a less likely scenario but you never know.

Of course maybe they haven't really got any money.

The main point here is though that we don't know what is going on behind the scenes at Arsenal. Something definitely is though, what with the recent sale to Kroenke of more shares in what seems to be an attempt to baulk Usmanov. Perhaps Wenger is playing the political game and seeking to bolster his own position, much like Rafa has done when Madrid talk surfaced in the past.

      Time will tell.

It would be interesting to see just who they would go for to replace him. There's no one else like Wenger out there. Whoever they did bring in would be a big step backwards for them. I'd be ****ting myself if I was an arsenal fan right now...

He's done a great job for us but maybe its the right time for him to move on.

In all seriousness maybe it is time for Wenger to seek a new challenge for himself and Arsenal. It would be hard to imagine Arsenal without him though.

I can't see him leaving, he has always honoured his contracts.

Agreed. And he has reaffirmed his commitment to the club many times this season.

Right so the man who likes to take this team building is leaving because of impatient fans? He goes to Madrid who are full of old players and will certainly not get the team required to get a squad he would want.

and lots of impatient fans.......and impatient board. But i do think he will still go this maybe his last chance of getting to a big club such as real Madrid as dont think another couple of trophless seasons will do him any favours!

Arsene Wenger has turned his back on the chance to coach Real Madrid and has pledged his future to Arsenal.

The Frenchman emerged as Real presidential candidate Florentino Perez's top target to take charge at Santiago Bernabeu, should the former supremo of the Spanish club win the forthcoming elections.

Speculation over Wenger's future then increased when he admitted that working under Perez would be 'an interesting project'.

With the Gunners enduring a fourth successive season without silverware, some supporters had began to express concerns about the direction of the club.

Wenger was clearly unhappy at the criticisms levelled at his door, but has now pledged to remain at Emirates Stadium until at least the end of his current contract in June 2011.
                                Staying

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis held talks with Wenger on Tuesday to discuss plans for the coming season and the former Monaco boss later confirmed his intention to remain in his current role.

He told the Daily Mail: "There's nothing to worry about, it's not an issue for me.

                                "I'm staying here.

"If that changes I will let you know, but don't worry about that. It's not an issue."
