As someone who lives in Newcastle but doesn't support Newcastle United I think it's hilarious. You should here them all kicking of up hereOriginally posted by red g View Post****ing fuming that this ****er has come out and said we have earned the right to rest players and will play a severely weakened team on Sunday against Hull.
While i do agree with the principle, if it was Benitez or Wenger the Tabloids would be in uproar.
One rule for him, different rules for everyone else.....I ****ing hate that whisky nosed ****er!!!
Tell you what if it was his team affected lets say we were gunning for the league and tottenham played a weakened team he would be going ape****, so would the media and sky would probably be running it as there main story
I ****ing hate that cunts media bias, his weakened team will probably be a news blackout for fear of offending the senile old cunt
That said Ferguson is an onorous cunt and on that basis alone I disagree with his actions and think if he does, in fact, field a weakened team the *******s should be docked 27 points.A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Well no, that's not true. This is a question of whether you agree with the rules or not, and clearly you dont - however, the rule is simply, that he must field a full strength side.Originally posted by Scratch View PostThis weakened side malarky is a load of bollocks...football is a team game now, and every team has a squad of players. So long as United field a team from that squad, and don't start playing the Acadamy side, then they are fulfilling their obligation to the premier league rules.
I agree that it's a silly rule, but if it's in place, it should be upheld.

That squad is his full strength side. Fielding a weakened team is not against the regulations. Fielding a team of 18 year old acadamy grads, not issued with squad numbers and with no PL experience behind them would be.Originally posted by Meols Kopite View PostThe Premier League chairman has said on TalkSport that the mancs do not have to field there strongest team against Hull.

Yeah but there's no debate that their strongest side WOULD include Ferdiand, Vidic, Van Der Sar, Rooney and Ronaldo. Fielding a weakened side means you're not fielding a full strength side - which is what the rule says you have to do. So it's breaking the rules.
What the PL should do is follow La Liga's lead and make every club submit a 25 man squad - only those included in the 25 can play league games. End of argument.

I agree that it's a stupid rule. But if it's in place, the ****ers should enforce it and deduct pointsOriginally posted by Reece View PostThing is that rule really is pretty unenforceable anyway. I mean we might want to rest just Torres for a Premier League game because we have a Champions League game during the week, but then we wouldn't be fielding our strongest side would we.

Yeah sorry wasn't aimed at you, just a general observation. They could probably do with clarifying it (or scrapping it) to save such debates arriving in the future.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI agree that it's a stupid rule. We have to submit a list of squad numbers, tho, so i'm pretty sure if we suddenly added 10 new numbers to that before a game, the FA would be pretty damn suspicious.
Like Reece says, if we rest Gerrard or Torres, we are not fielding our strongest side, but are instead utilising our squad. No different from what United are planning on doing, but to a larger scale. They will still be using experienced players tho, utilising their strength in depth.
