we should be in for Gourcuff in about 3-4 years time if/when Gerrard starts to decline

by that time he will be playing at a massive club already, and be out of range. If we want him now is the time to move. Bordeaux are struggling to meet the 15m asking fee, and Milan want Dossena from us.

I couldn't agree more. All these spectacular goals from speculative shots tend to leave me cold, although I do confess to being impressed and excited by Torres' goal against Blackburn. Then again I don't think it really compares to Van Basten's volley in 1704 or whenever it was.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Like NY and Shaggy I'm a fan of the Cole goal. The Gourcuff and, especially, Grafite goals stand out from the rest too.
