It is coming home. It just hasn't lived in England for decades!

Great goal from Japan against Brazil. Fancied them for an upset here. Come on Japan.

England flatter to deceive again. I don't get it. It's not inconceivable that we should win the WC once in while. We have a large enough population to choose from, we have probably the most competitive league in the world and some of the best resources. It's weird that we always do so badly. I remember back in the 80's we were told that English players weren't playing the best in the world, because we didn't have any foreign players in the league (honestly), unlike Italy and Spain; then we get told that we aren't great because we don't have enough players playing in foreign leagues (which, apart from Spain maybe, are weaker). We've had some of the best managers in the business - so what is the issue? Why are England so perma-****e? And why do my swears keep getting censored? It's ****ing really ****ing ****tingly annoying! ****************************e********e ********e!

Which is why I think he would have been a welcome relief from Konate last season..

Harry Kane, England's top goal scorer at WCs. Pretty sure Lineker would have more with more games, like these expanded WCs.

Finally, England lead. The holding on Bellingham is criminal, so it was a good finish.

But then no-one cares here, right? Most of you are Irish or Australian

Meanwhile I am again being reminded of why I typically don't bother with England games. This is tepid. If we can't master Panama, we don't stand much of a chance against France, Spain, Brazil, Argentina or even Portugal or Mexico. I get Panama are playing tight, whereas those teams wouldn't, but it's not beyond feasibility that they score themselves.

He's looked a little unsure at right back tbh, but he's an England international at the WC. It was a mistake to sell him. I thought Slot treated him pretty badly tbh - subbing him at half time in the first game (?) and then pretty much ignoring him. And the result was we were forced to play Konate nearly every game last season. I don't think he's a world beater, but he's decent and still has potential to get better.
