1431 BST: Valencia have turned down a reported offer from Chelsea for David Villa, with the Spain international seemingly set to join Real Madrid instead, according to the player's agent. (Press Association)

Jeez, if they get him as well......

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

pointless talking about fergie and him getting it wrong in the transfer market.

just look at what he has won. (i hate the scum as much as anyone else)

might get it wrong but he still wins.

50% tax on their wages then? Plus with the pound being as it is I am inclined to agree with you. This will be a difficult summer for English clubs.
            * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

That's a fair point. Compared to the 23% in Spain, I'd be more than tempted to leave if I was a player.

Marcelo doesn't play at left back nor will he under Pelligrini. The rest besides Sneijder is correct.

Ronaldo, Kaka and Ribery will be unstoppable.

Just been in Spain where I looked for a reasonably priced Spain shirt. **** that - they were €60-€70.

Amusingly, take away Ronaldo's goals from last season and Utd scored just 10 more than Newcastle "championship favourites" utd managed!

I reminded them of the £55m he wasted on Nani, Hargreaves & Anderson. £55m!!!!!!!

Then they've got the problem with prices being inflated such as with the vastly over-priced Berbatov £30m & Carrick £20m

Of course if they can get 2-3 of the superstars being linked then yes they've got a chance but I think most of the top players being talked about aren't gonna come ......

Ribery - hates England and went to Germany 2 years ago despite interest from PL clubs back then
Benzema - on record as saying he wants to go to Spain if he leaves Lyon. Barcelona interested.
                            Villa - going to Madrid
Aguero - possibility but Milan, Barcelona, Chelsea & Man City competing
Eto'o - possibility but seems to favour Inter & Serie A
                            Yep.

There's a Manc here skipping round singing "£100m to spend!", like a total numpty. Talk about desperately trying to put a brave face on it.

I asked him "What have you spent your last £100m on? Berbatov £32m, Nani £14m, Anderson £17m, Carrick £18m, £10m to loan Tevez, and another £30M if you buy him. That’s £121m!!!!"

                            He said nothing.

yep i have some weird mancs doing the same.......they do realise that he may not get it all, and for a start they have to replace 102 goals from tevez and the ladyboy over the last 2 seasons.

                              Some things money cannot buy.

Never know ..... Nani might step upto the plate

i reckon a big chunk of that cash will go to service their huge debt which the media never seem to mention. Also i dont think its as simple as real writing a check for 80 million and handing it to the united accountant, its paid in chunks over time. He has a bigger transfer budget but ronaldo is really a massive loss for them which wont be easy to fill. Also he has to basically rebuild his midfield and attack after what happened in the champions league final. finally, would a few of the other united players be now looking at the exit door?
