Just watching this tribute programme on BBC1 now and the part with Sir Bob giving his speech about the donations received was so moving. You could tell by his slightly impared speech that he wasnt long for this world. I dont know how recent this footage was from, but it couldnt have been very long ago. He even offered a quick gag, whereby he told Fabio Capello that if he wanted to go and watch Newcastle, he could get him a ticket.
Really moving stuff and so sad what's happened. I've never met the guy or known him, but he feels like everyone's adorable grandad. Rarely has someone been so deserving of the respect and affection offered to him. I've already posted on this thread, but i had to post again.
The world of football...and the world generally, would be a far better place if the likes of Sir Bobby Robson were commonplace, rather than so unique.
Such a gentleman. Such a legend. Rest in peace Sir Bobby.
