Nothing’s to say he would, no player is guaranteed to perform, but as mentioned we would have nothing to lose as we could sell him on at a profit if it didn’t work out. Rather take that risk than spunking £20m on someone because they are homegrown (hello Keane) and have basically nothing to lose.

From the reports I’ve heard, Hammill seems to have made more of an impact in the Championship that Adam Johnston did, and that gamble paid off.

I’m seriously not fussed either way if we signed him or not, but I can see plenty of good reasons why. I don’t know why you’re so stuck up on your one reason that you can’t accept that it could be worth a punt.

Fine Gerrard 2 weeks wages for his red card and that’s him paid for, or even Johnson for his twitter outburst. We didn’t even meet the 25 man quota, so he would hardly take up an unnecessary place in the squad either.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

And if Hammill hadn't come through our academy no one would have cared about this transfer.

You’re probably right. But because he has, our supporters pay notice when he’s regularly scoring for Barnsley and picking up awards. Despite being one of the best players in the Championship this year, I’m sure a good 90% of supporters from other Prem clubs have never heard of him, or maybe know the name but couldn’t tell you how he’s performing.

If he does well we can sign him off Wolves. The lad would be desperate to play for us. Simple.

Thing is if he does well, all of a sudden he will be costing us 5 mil.

Yes he will be more expensive, but he will be a proven player. And he probably wouldn`t get the experience at LFC.

                Hammill return on.

Liverpool are thought to be interested in offering Adam Hammill a chance to return to Merseyside following the midfielder’s wonderful form with Championship side Barnsley.

Hammill had shown promise with Liverpool’s famous academy but struggled to make the breakthrough to the first team, hastening his exit. His progress in the Championship has not gone unnoticed however, and the Anfield hierarchy are beginning to wonder whether they made a mistake in letting him leave.

One potential scuppering point is Wolves’ interest. The Black Country side are thought to have lodged a £500,000 bid – sufficient to tempt the Tykes into a sale because of the player’s contract dispute with the club, the Daily Mirror reports.

Footballer Adam Hammill held after Liverpool paramedic assault

A footballer has been arrested and bailed after a paramedic was allegedly assaulted in Liverpool city centre.

Adam Hammill, 24, was taken into custody after an incident on Temple Court in the early hours of Sunday.

Mr Hammill is a Wolverhampton Wanderers player but is currently on loan at Huddersfield Town.

Merseyside police said a man, 24, from Bootle, had been arrested on suspicion of common assault. He has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) claimed one of their staff had been "the victim of an assault" while attending an incident.

Dave Kitchin, from NWAS, said: "Our ambulance crews work tirelessly in all weathers, day and night, to come to the aid of people who need our help.

"We should be able to do so without fear of assault, either physical or verbal."

                        Under-21 international

Mr Hammill, a former Liverpool FC trainee, has appeared internationally for England's Under-21 side.

Huddersfield Town said: "We have been made aware of an incident which has taken place in Merseyside involving Adam Hammill.

"The matter is being investigated by the police, therefore it would be inappropriate to comment at this stage."

Huddersfield Town confirmed they contacted Mr Hammill's parent club when the incident was brought to their attention.
