Cheating cunt's been charged by UEFA with 'deceiving the referee'. Hope this sets a precedent. It won't, like, but I hope it does.

I don't agree with introducing technology for penalty decisions. Players are always going down in the box. We should trust the referees and their assistants to get it right. Mistakes are always going to happen but this is preferable to interrupting a game for two minutes to show replays from five different angles so a fourth official can decide if a penalty should be given or not. I am in favour of goal line technology being introduced to show the ball has crossed the line but that's where I'd end it.Originally posted by Nick77 View PostAll the more reason why technology needs to be used in football - like EVERY other sport. Furthermore we were denied at least blatant 2 pens (1 against Spurs & 1 against Villa) where in BOTH cases the players involved did a lot more than just "fall over", so why weren't the refs conned in either of those 2 cases?!A humble guy with healthy desire.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has accused Uefa of conducting a "witch-hunt" against his striker Eduardo after it charged the player with diving.
Eduardo diving incident
Uefa examined video evidence of the incident at the Emirates Stadium
The 26-year-old Croatian faces a two-match ban from European football's governing body for "deceiving the referee" in order to win a penalty during the Champions League win over Celtic.
Wenger was left seething after Uefa earlier confirmed disciplinary proceedings after reviewing the incident in which the striker stands accused of conning match official Manuel Gonzalez.
Leading from the first leg 2-0, Eduardo's conversion of the resulting spot kick effectively settled the contest late in the first-half at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
Wenger labelled the subsequent action a "complete disgrace and unacceptable".
The Arsenal boss said: "This charge implies there was intent and a desire to cheat the referee. Having watched the pictures again there was nothing conclusive.
"It singles out a player in Europe to be a cheat and that is not acceptable. Uefa has taken action that is not defendable."
Arsenal's Eduardo
Eduardo's spot kick ended the tie
Arsenal went on to win Wednesday's match 3-1 - and thus the tie 5-1 - to secure a spot in the group stage of the illustrious and highly profitable competition.
Eduardo was widely condemned for tumbling in the box despite minimal or no contact from Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc.
Celtic's players and the Scottish FA called for the striker to be punished.
Uefa said a disciplinary inspector "decided to charge the player concerned" after studying video evidence of the incident.
But Wenger rejected the decision, insisting Eduardo took evasive action because he was worried about the career-threatening broken leg he suffered two seasons ago.
"I'm the first to say that it doesn't look like a penalty but it's another thing to say that he went down with intent," the Frenchman said.

Wenger rejects dive claims
"I wish good luck in proving that having seen the pictures again.
"Having seen his leg after that tackle I don't blame him for getting out of the way of the goalkeeper."
Uefa's Control and Disciplinary Body will tackle the case on Monday.
If Eduardo is suspended he would be ruled out of Arsenal's matches with Standard Liege (away, September 16) and Olympiacos (home, September 29).
Wenger also warned the charge set a "dangerous" precedent.
"Every single decision made by a referee can now on be challenged," he said. "They've opened a very dangerous door there."

Wenger is a ****ing disgrace. Can you imagine if Rooney flings himself to the floor under no contact tomorrow to win a penalty that sets United on the way to winning the game? Wenger would be apoplectic. I'm sick to death of his hypocrisy. What a cunt. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Thing is, Eduardo like most players saw the ball infront of him and decided in a split second that he was going to nick it before Boruc and let Boruc bring him down. Loads of top players do this, he just didn't bank on Boruc pulling out and missing him.
If this sets a precedent like Wenger says then its a good precedent. He's only pissed off that its his player thats the one who got caught out and punished

Obviously Wenger's hypocrisy knows no bounds but i kind of think he has a point here.
Surely now a team can demand a player be banned for two games if they dive against them and the ref gives the decision. These sort of rules need to be made clear to every team at the start of the season rather than bringing up rule 212, clause 11, subsection 6 to take action against a player. Is every dive now punishable by a two game ban if the ref falls for it? Is it just in Europe or all leagues? I'm afraid Uefa have just opened a large can of worms here.
Also ruling what is a deliberate dive or just an attempt to avoid contact/injury is going to be very difficult.'Religion is killing each other over who has the best imaginary friend'

Yup, damn shame he wasn't one of ours.Originally posted by The Erectile Banana View PostBergkamp usen't dive much but he was a really sneaky, nasty ****er. You'd always see him throwing sly elbows or flicks with the boot and he nearly always got away with it. Great player though.Never knowingly optimistic
