About as disgraceful as it gets.Originally posted by Deano View PostI think he's a **** manager - he took Sunderland up, but when faced with moving on spends £6m on that gimp from Newcastle - Chopra. Either Keane was still pissed off at Quinn and thought I blow £6m to get back at you, or he was on the take or finally he's feckin clueless.
Add in some of his other signings and I'd go for the latter (just about)
Has he won a game at ipswich yet ?I think people are too quick to reject managers as not being good enough. It took Bruce a good few miss steps before he became the manager he is now and Rafa had a few less than stellar jobs before he hit his stride. I'm not sure that Keane has the right mentality to make it as a really top manager but to write him off after just one try is a bit harsh in my opinion.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostOh I totally agree he's a **** manager (his list of purchases at Sunderland is atrocious) but I like what he has to say these days....he tells it like it is, unlike the bland majority.
Same goes for a couple of other young managers like Ince.Last edited by dww; 03-09-09, 12:10 PM."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

on the continent its almost taken as read you will be sacked a few times.....over here ithere are loads of promising managers that struggle to get jobs after a couple of sackings.

Keane had a lot of cash to spend at Sunderland are in fairness he blew the lot on below average championship players. I could see it and so could others.Originally posted by dww View PostI think people are too quick to reject managers as not being good enough. The thing is he a/ got them into the PL and b/ kept them there. Which is not bad. So either he is pretty bloody incredible at motivating 'below average Championship players' or there is a more balanced assessment that could be made. I'm not particularly disagreeing with your assessment in the sense that I do think he spent a lot of money and didn't get anything amazing for it, however it takes years to build up a good set of scouts/contacts and I'm not sure Sunderland are ever going to be signing big names. It's easy to criticise managers for that sort for thing but less so to give credible alternative strategies they could go for.Originally posted by Deano View PostKeane had a lot of cash to spend at Sunderland are in fairness he blew the lot on below average championship players. I have reservation s about him becoming a top manager but I think you should expect in experienced managers to make mistakes. It's whether they learn from them that will define whether they make it in the long run."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Obviously i prefer Gerrard but i think you'd(not you literally) be a bit of tool if you didn't have a grudging respect for Roy Keane the footaller, not the dirty cunt or loud mouth, just the footballer.Originally posted by -V- View PostMarky-
Who do you admire most? Keane or Gerrard? Who would you rather have?
Don't get me wrong i absolutely hated him when he was in his prime at United, mainly because he was the focal point of them being so successful. However when i look back now, i just think by **** Roy Keane... what a powerhouse of a player and what a leader."Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been.
