Its a shame he only got back today as he won't be 100% after alot of travelling and playing in 2 massive games.

Masch has proven himself in the biggist stage of them all at the World Cup 4 years ago, he has done it for the past couple of seasons for us. Just because he has had a slow start to the season, doesn't mean we should sell especially at a poxy 30 million.

For me its questionable to say Cattermole has been better than Mascher this season and thats with Masc having a bad spell and Catrermole having a purple patch. To compare the 2 players is just mental imo, one is the captain of Argentina and described by the greatist player to play the game as the most important player in Argentina and the other is someone who had a good Under 21's championship in the summer and a decent start to the season.

If anything it should be Cattermole v Lucas debate and even then i would still pick Lucas ahead of him.

Anyways i can see Robinho joining Barca in Jan and Cesc joining them after the world cup. The Momo link to Barca is just common sense tells you that Barca wouldn't go near him with his passing ability and playing style. They would need someone more disiplined like Masch to cover for the full backs (esp Dani Alves) as they bomb forward.

    Goodnight & god bless.
Whilst he may have been good in the World Cup, he was far from being the best Argentinian player - Cambiasso, Maxi Rodriguez and Riquelme were far far better than him - OK they do play different positions to him. If he was that good at the World Cup, why did he end up at West Ham? Surely the group who owned the rights to him could have got flogged him to a better team.

I just want to say that I never for once said Cattermole is better than Masch - he never has been and never will be. My argument is that he's not happy therefore we should get shot of him. There is potentially a few players that we could have signed, Cattermole being one of them who could fill his void to a certain extent.

In terms of the Barca-Momo link is that how many times have you seen him play for Juventus? Talk to any Juventus fan and they would laugh back at you. He has been a revelation for them. Common sense would tell you that Guardiola has Busquets playing that discplined role in midfiled. Common sense would also tell you that Barcelona would never have signed a few years ago players like Yaya Toure and Keita but guess what, they have. Momo is far better than Keita and Guardiola has said he wants' another midfielder - so why can't he be after Momo?

At the world cup he was only 21, yet he was one of the stars of that team. I remember the BBC doing a piece on him whilst the world cup was on and saying thats what England are missing.

He was sent to West Ham as Kia Joowhatshisname was suppose to buy the club before a deal fell through, he then joined us in Jan.

I've seen momo a few times since he left, saw him score a overhead kick (might of been his debut?). Seen abit of him on ESPN this season but one of my mates a play 5-a-side with is Italian and a big Juve fan and is constantly shouting Sissoko when someone has a wild shot or a dodgy pass. I'll think you'll find that Toure/Keita/Busquests play the holding role for Barca whilst Iniesta and Xavi play the more advanced role. The only reason why Toure and Keita have played in a more advanced role this season is because of Iniesta's fitness. Hence the link to Cesc he would be the third option in there and you could see Iniesta pushed into Henry's position come next season (according to Ballague).

Edit: Keita has been very very good for Barca this season imo.

Kia was actually trying to flog both Masch and Tevez to every club in Europe. I'm pretty certain Fergie and Redknapp said how they were approached by Kia but just turned him down as the prices quoted were unreasonble. So instead he struck up a loan deal with West Ham in the hope that their values would increase.

I know the exact roles that Keita et al play. Toure has always had the license to run forwards with the ball and played in a slightly advanced position. This was very evident last season. I've not watched Barca at all this season.

And it's strange how my work colleague who is half Italian and supports Juventus says Sissoko has been immense for them and regarded very highly in general in Italy.

Cattermole is a very good defensive midfielder and the gap between Masch and him is not that big. He only cost Sunderland £6m! Masch for me is way too 1 dimensional. He's great at tackling but what else is he good at? If someone offered £30m, then I wouldn't hesitate in getting rid of him. It's such a shame we got rid of Sissoko, a player who is now linked with with Barcelona for a massive 30 euro's. Masch lacks loyalty - Rafa/Liverpool showed a lot of faith in him by bringing him to Liverpool.
Fair dos, I can see what you are saying but Mascher is still nowhere near his prime and he is a monster!!!

          Love you too btw bro.

A loan deal with West Ham? I do believe West Ham never owned either player to start with and they were both owned by a 3rd party. Kia Whatshisname only sent them to west ham as he thought he was going to own them in a few weeks otherwise they would have stayed at Corinthians imo. Not that how or why they ended up at West Ham really matters.

If you've not watched Barca play at all this season, how would you know if Momo would be a good signing for them? They have altered the way they've played this season with the signing of Ibra. I luv watching Barca play, the way they move the ball with their one touch football is just beutifull to watch and now they have a plan b in playing a more direct game and feeding off Ibra.

Talking to my mate after footy today he said prity much what i thought he would say, Momo breaks up play really well but has his lapses in concentration and misplaces the most simple passes. TBF he hasn't been home to watch them play live this season. On a sidenote he loves Diego and thinks he would be great playing just behind Torres.

Not what he's in the team for. Good game today though.

As for those above having a pop at Mascherano..................

Well I don't really need to say anything do I?

Manchester City's Brazilian forward Robinho is pleased about being linked with a move to Barcelona but insists he is not engineering a return to La Liga.

There has been speculation Barca will try to sign Robinho in January.

And the former Real Madrid star, 25, told Brazilian radio station Radio Bandeirantes: "I'm very happy about the interest that Barcelona have in me."

But he added: "I'm not forcing a hypothetical exit from England and nor do I have problems with my coach."

Robinho joined City from Real in August 2008 for a British record £32.5m, but has been closely linked with a move to Barcelona since the summer.

He has often spoken of his admiration of Barcelona and explained that, by playing for Pep Guardiola's side, he would have a better chance of realising his ambition of becoming the greatest player on the planet.

Robinho added: "Playing in the Nou Camp it is much easier to be the best player in the world than at City."

The Brazil international is currently sidelined with an ankle injury and, on 22 October, City manager Mark Hughes revealed he may not return until his side face Liverpool on 21 November.

At the same time, Hughes played down reports of Barca's interest, saying: "Nothing has changed in respect of Robi. He won't be leaving us, and that's the top and bottom of it."
