Willian, Lamela and Coentrao in for Bale going out will leave them somewhere around a net spend of £10m-£20m if the prices being quoted are to be believed.

Still think they could do with another striker and a CB.

So, wonder who else they'll get rid of ?

I think they could re-coup quite a bit tbh, without the Bale money being hammered, or as some people are wondering, could they even afford to keep him ?

Maybe they could ? but i would be amazed if they did.
Nah, no way can they afford to keep him. If they spend another £60m that will take them to about £100m net out. No way they can make that back even if 'Arry takes Defoe off them.

And they'll need to pay someone to take Adebayor.

Gareth Bale will be the worst signing in the history of football.

Not worth the money. Does not have enough in his locker compared to someone in similar role like Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is miles ahead of Bale (as is many others), if they manage to pull this off because of 1 good season I really really salute Spurs. They must be laughing all the way to the bank.

I think his value is slightly inflated because of him being British. Madrid will be able to tap into a market over here especially that maybe would have been cut off since Beckham left them.

Used to see Madrid tops all the time a few years back.

Plus I do think he is a quality player, one that would make any team better. £93m good? Probably not. But Madrid must think so.

Agree to an extent with the British market part - but he obviously isn't in the same league as Beckham when it comes to that.

Part of me wonders if this is almost panic buying - they have to get a big name to trump Barca getting Neymar so they are willing to go and spend a totally over inflated price for Bale.

It's a ****ing ridiculous price for a 24 year old performing in 1 season. Ronaldo had performed longer, and shown his talent at much younger age and how Real are paying more for Bale is beyond me. But as said hat's off for Spurs for pulling this one through.

Add to that the fact that latest on the deal is £93m + Coentrao = ~100m.

They could have gone for Cavani in that case then. Or Falcao. So if its just a big name, there were options available to them. Maybe it is a panic buy. But its a hell of a big one

Kinda trumps my panic buy of The Meters vinyl today just because I hadn't taken anything home with me

And the one player where Spurs can't really outbid us

To say he has only performed in one season is harsh

                              In the league
                              2012-13: Scored 21, assists 4
                              2011-12: Scored 9, assists 10
                              2010-11: Scored 7, assists 1

                              All comps

                              2012-13: Scored 26, assists 10
                              2011-12: Scored 12, assists 14
                              2010-11: Scored 11, assists 3

He has been exceptional in one season and had a very good return in others mainly playing wide left.

Bale and Henderson are a Year apart in age. Bale recently turned 24.

So if we are all calling for people to give Henderson a chance to grow and mature as a player. Then we should expect the same to be said of Bale (albeit a year later than Henderson)

Common consensus is that players reach their peak at 26-28 Years Old. So he has a little way to go to realise his full potential.
