I think I had my doubts but was won over by his 36.5 years of experience.

I have to confess that I backed him too. Not through belief but through blind loyalty. I had hoped he'd step up, he didn't and I was chuffed he was shown the door. I hate him now that I've seen what he's really all aboutOriginally posted by Nigey View PostShaggy didn't like him before his appointment. Most of us had major doubts. His appointment was an absolute non event IIRC from my side.
From what I recollect, only BobTheCharmer, backed him to the hilt. I remember having words with him at the end of The Bodge's tenure.

I told you to stop making **** up, same with you saying i completely wrote off Aspas & Sturridge??
I said give Hodgson 2 months. You gave me **** for writing off Miereles,Dossena,Jovanovic etc early? I wasn't overauled by Roy's appointment but like many was perfectly happy to let him prove himself, as it was a poxy position to come into.
He didn't, had a mare and made a mess. Wouldn't exactly say i was his No.1 fan far from it. He got appointed to LFC and he had his chance. These were one of my first few comments about him which IMO is completely reasonable.
give him at least 10 more games to get a settled side, if by then we are still languishing i can completely understand the criticism and will be there myselfI just feel people need to cut the guy some slack just for 5 or 6 more games and then if things haven't improved i'll have no problems in criticising RoyLast edited by danperkins; 08-09-13, 02:39 PM.

Most people gave him few months. Even though he had little or no funds & had what has to be said as a very tough start fixture wise... his team selection and tactics pretty much summed up that he wasn't up to the job.Originally posted by dom9 View PostHuh?
I remember a lot people being behind him initially, hoping he would prove the nagging doubts wrong. I was.
Until the wheels came off. Which didn't take long.
P.S. I thought PFK & Poulsen would at least functional squaddies when we first bought him... chirst on a bike

How is that making stuff up? You were constantly up his arse preaching how much time he needs and how he'll do a good job.Originally posted by danperkins View Post

You were even hailing Konchesky in defence of him.

Way too much revisionism over Roy Hodgson. Just a quick glance at the first page of that New Manager thread shows that even Shaggy wanted him - whilst I do not believe for a second he was Shaggy's preferred option.
I did not fare much better Shaggy, I actually said we should consider Moyes,
