You're right though. The press take the ****ing piss. I mean in this instance Terry deserve all the negative press he will inevitably get, but every major tournament pans out the same as far as the press are concerned. Hatchet jobs on the manager and some players, and then go ****ing ape**** when they don't win it. It's unreal.

Also, why do people blame the papers in this? Considering the entire world of football would know about this, surely the secrecy it could have been afforded would have been more damaging to the squad than just the affair on it's own? If you're an England squad member and you're on 'Team Bridge' it's going to be bad enough having that lowlife screaming in your ear at half time and defending a corner. The hypocrisy of him being Dad of the Year etc, being shrouded in secrecy would make the situation worse wouldn't it? It would for me.

If anything is going to adversely affect the squad at the WC it's him keeping the captain's armband and hiding behind an injunction, rather than him being exposed and removed from his position.
