I go and watch Bath City play a bit as I played there for about 7 or 8 years in total, funniest bit is the older grumpier fans getting annoyed at the new young self appointed 'ultras' when the young lads start singing.
Woe betide anyone supporting their team for their £10!
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

When I was a kid I used to go and watch Waterford United at Kilcohan Park in the League of Ireland. They were reasonably good in those days. Would typically attract 1500 to a game, with the "hardcore" in The Shed. I remember they were playing Bray Wanderers once and Waterford took a shot on goal. One of the "ultras" in The Shed blew a whistle and the goalkeeper stopped but the ball hit the crossbar - hillarious. Another time they were runner's up in the FAI Cup - the year of the 1986 World Cup where Tigana and co. of France beat Brazil. Two months later Tigana and Co. were at Kilcohan Park for the UEFA Cup game against Waterford. Hard to believe - great craic though.

Southport went top of the Blue Square North last night. They could well be a League team in the next 5 years.

In other news, AFC Liverpool reached the Semi Final of the Vodkat Trophy, beating Wigan last night 4-0 on their own patch. Blackpool are the semi fianl opponents.

southport wont be a league club for a while yet.

they dont get the crowds or have the money.

                    etc etc

but good to see them get into the conference. i would love them to be a league club as last time they where was the year i was born

oh and when southport came out of the league wigan went it. i think liverpool where one of the clubs who voted them in. southport assumed liverpool etc would vote for them whereas wigan asked people to vote for them.

As has been noted before on here Cambridge United would be my second team. They haven't been great this year which is a shame as the last couple of years I've been along to watch them lose in the play off final and I had hoped that they might push on to the next level this season. Sacked the manager and it all went tits up.

It's all swings and roundabouts I suppose.

He's chief scout at Luton now apparently - which seems a bit of a waste.

i think he wants to move to bigger and better things so he sees it as a step to that.

I guess it is a useful way to keep your eye in. Scouting in the Blue Square can't raise your profile much though and you would think that there is only so long that people will feel a BSP manager of the year award means anything.

Kendal Town in the Unibond Prem.

Decent amount of games in hand but Bradford PA are looking good.

Lee Ashcroft on a massive learning curve for the next couple of months.
