    how you figure?

we are relying on city to lose 4 and draw one of the next 8 games and for spurs to do pretty much the same................not to mention villa!!

we need maximum points to have even an outside chance of 5th or 6th.

      Max points possible:

      Liverpool: 72
      City 80
      Spurs 78
      Villa 77

So where are relying on three teams dropping between 5-9 points in the last 7-9 games for us to get fourth. And we have to add that our goal difference is not better, so they potentially need to drop 1 more point than us.

Fourth is long gone even if we win our last 7 games IMO.

Forgot to add, that it means city will have to loose 3 of their last 9 games that's 1/3 of them.

Spurs will have to throw 6-7 points in their last 8 games.

Villa have to drop 5-6 points, that's 2 loses in the easiest run in of the 3!

It's very much still alive. Yes, we too have potential for dropped points, but on the assumption that we take 19 or 21 points, i think it's still very achievable for us to get 4th.

But I can't put a case together for making any such assumption.

Lol at this thread, every other game for the contenders is vitually a potential to drop points.

We have 4 homes games and 3 Away, Brum is tricky, but if we can't get maximum points we might as well not bother showing up.

City are clearly the faviourites with 6 homes games remaining, they win them and there home and dry.

when during the last 8 months have our performances shown anything other than potential lost points in all those games for us?

at home to fulham, west ham, chelsea and away to brum......i'd be surprised to get more than 6 points from these games.

People have been saying we'll get an upturn in form soon for 6 months. I got slated for saying we won't come 4th in my sig as long ago as sept/oct lsat year because our form was supposedly a blip. It's not going to happen, we're not going to go on an all
conquering run to the end of the season. At least there is no reason but blind faith to say we will.

Due to the fact City have go to play against the other 2, at home, they have to be in the best position

We could be watching those games knowing that anything but a draw will kill our chances of 4th

They are all in better form than us and we are ****e, not the best combination to get
                          4th place.

I think most us in our heads know 4th is nigh on impossible and don't think we will get it but in our hearts until it becomes mathematically impossible we will hold on to that very faint glimmer of hope...

That's actually a good call, and i'm undecided what i want, imo 4th is gone for us, to get it now would imo be almost Istanbul like in miracle terms.

Plus, i can't help but think that 4th place, although hugely important...isn't the biggest issue facing this club as we stand.

4th place may well be a distant memory if we continue under our present ownership, along with many other things.

I could handle a season out of europe, if it meant we'd see the back of H&G, and end up with custodians who have the where with all to sell top players and fans a vision, and then more importantly deliver on it.
