One thing that bugs me every time one of these injuries occurs - is every single pundit, manager, fellow player all saying "he's not that kind of player". Clearly I think Shawcross is innocent and so I agree in this instance, but when would they ever say otherwise? Who are these mystery players who ARE that sort of player FFS?!?! Can you imagine....I dunno, someone like Essien breaking someone's leg (not beyond the realms of possibility) and Lineker saying "well, he's the sort of ******* who goes round looking to break people's legs, isn't he Alan?"

ramsey got to the ball way before shawcross, and if he'd have a little bit more sense in his tackling he woudn't break his leg.

you don't tackle like that, not that high up the pitch. if you play dirty football your bound to injure players, and it's hypocritical imo to defend stoke or shawcross as i've read on here on numerous occasions negative comments about their non-football, now all of a sudden it's all good, just because wenger said what we were all thinking.

Can't agree with that. Stoke are rough and uncompromising but they're not a team of leg-breakers. I don't understand how anyone can watch that collision and blame Shawcross.

That doesnt even make any sense ffs! People are defending Stoke because their was nothing wrong with the tackle. It wasnt a Pienaar on Mascherano, it was just an accident.

Taylors tackle on Eduardo was horrendous, this wasnt.

And have you got a link to where anyone called Stoke's style all good?

Total accident. Feel sorry for both Ramsay and Shawcross.

No-one should have to go through an injury like that, especially so young. Hope he makes a full recovery and gets back on the pitch sooner rather than later

As for Shawcross, the tackle was an accident, he got sent off because the ref had to. If he didn't can you imagine the response in the press?

On an unrelated note. Wenger is a prick. Standard

Ryan Shawcross has expressed his sympathy for Aaron Ramsey.

He said in a statement: "There was absolutely no malice in the challenge."

"I would never go out to hurt a fellow professional. I am deeply upset that Aaron has suffered such a bad injury and my thoughts are with him.

"I would like to send him my best wishes too for a speedy recovery."

You could see Shawcross was completely distraught at the time, only Sol Campbell's tantrum got him sent off.

Its a shame for him aswell, just a horrible accident.

of course he didn't intend to break his leg, but that doesn't mean his tackle wasn't bad, you simply don't go at a player like that, that high up the pitch. an unneccesary tackle, recless one, and i only hope he becomes a wiser player becasue of it.

We'll have to agree to disagree, Lucas Neill on Carragher was a bad tackle, yesterday was just a challenge just went wrong, an accident.

I dont agree with what you are saying Shawcross was off balance and clearly going for the ball if you study the video he was only looking at the ball, he only had one thought, the ball.

A reckless tackle is a tackle that is right over the top of the ball or a two footed straight legged tackle, this was neither.

I dislike people thinking they know my opinion on something, especially when it's NOT what i'm thinking!

Haha aye, pretty much everyone in this thread has disagreed with what Wenger said, yet apparently we're all still thinking it

Yes, but it's all by the by, as i'm positive that 'SlovenianKopite' is really thinking the same as us on this issue, and is just saying what he is to play devils.

if you feel stoke aren't a dirty team, then sorry for thinking what you were not thinking. i might not have expressed myself well in that instance, and i think you misunderstood what i meant.

I hate Wenger's everyone is over physical/dirty against them, but it applies to all the teams and it's part of the game. Yes they've had a few injuries, but so have we and other clubs, these things seem to come in periods, they've had Eduardo, Van Persie and Ramsey, a few years back we had Carragher, Alonso and Cisse with bad injuries in a similar period (two broken legs in one game as I recall).
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
