I know what you mean but I think, personally, this comes down to yet another spineless football authority in the shape of the FA. They should of clamped down on the likes of Fergie and Wenger years ago when they started pulling players out of friendlies really badly injured and then playing them a couple of days later amazingly recovered. This would of stopped other managers doing the same and then perhaps the players would of realised what an honour it is to represent their country.Originally posted by johnly View PostI used to love watching England games, competitive and friendly games but over the years watching them has become difficult. Don't get me wrong, I'm passionate about my country and I really really want to see us win a major trophy, but watching some of these performances sucks the life out of you and its way too hard to watch. Even with this shadow side that are there now, we should be smashing Egypt. There's too many supposed talents in that side who's performances in the England shirt is simply dire. Gerrard and Rooney are the only two players seemingly putting a shift in. The whole culture and lifestyle has taken over from the actual playing of the game for England now. More people care about who's gonna boo Terry than us getting a result.
I'll be supporting us wildly in the summer, I want England to win the world cup, but these games, I can't get excited for at all
I know when I was growing up dreaming of playing professional football (before being so rudely dumped by Huddersfield Town after a trial and before find beer and women) that apart from playing for my team, the team of my hero King Kenny, Liverpool that I wanted to represent my country. It was ultimate accolade.
As for the Terry thing it just shows what a pathetic race we are. We're more outraged that Terry shagged someone else's ex-girlfriend than we are that Liverpool/Manure/Pompey have been taken over by people without any money, allowed by a absolute pointless fit and proper rule created by the money machine that is the Premier League and even worse that, according to the Observer, Sepp Blatter is lining his own families pockets with money from South African hoteliers.
over.
