If we'd signed him on a pay-as-you-play deal and he'd scored us a stoppage time winner against Everton, plus 8 other goals at various points, and it helped us pinch the title by a point or two, he'd have been a superb bit of business.Originally posted by red g View Postits funny.....if we would have bought hi,m it would have been money waste don a crock.

If he does that for the mancs, the same will be true.

You come out with that 'legend' rubbish and when asked to back it up, you cant, so it's silly smilies.Originally posted by PeteBest View PostIt's Friday, Craig is bored and wants to argue with someone.
Forum pollution is what it is.
Well there was the bench-sitting Owen did in Graz. He certainly never took the field in a competitive match under Rafa, did he?Originally posted by Rich View PostBit in bold isn't true.

I didn't say that you meant he would become a 'legend', I was just being sarcastic. I've never held Owen in as high a regard as many on here, always thought he was a pretty limited footballer with an uncanny ability to score goals, I'll have to give him that.
I've stated why I think he would have been a wrong buy, never dodged the issue with you nor was I using smilies to prove a point. Can't you take things lightly a bit in the football section?
I'm done with Owen for now.

The problem is, you often say something daft and then when pulled up on it, you claim to have been 'being sarcastic' or joking. So it's impossible to tell with you. I can take things lightly when someone's joking around, of course i can. But as i said, you only seem to decide you were joking, when someone provides you with a strong argument that shows up your previous comment to have been nonsensical. Makes it extremely difficult to identify whether you're joking or not.Originally posted by PeteBest View PostI didn't say that you meant he would become a 'legend', I was just being sarcastic. I never ever take myself too seriously on here. Thought you'd known that over the years. Still, my point was valid and there's no argument being better or worst than the other, it's all discussion. I'd hate things to be like a Mattshark/Nicey/Smphotog ping pong argument as it's incredibly boring.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostThe problem is, you often say something daft and then when pulled up on it, you claim to have been 'being sarcastic' or joking. You are correct, he didn't play a competitive match. Rafa still managed Owen though - even if it was for a very brief period.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostWell there was the bench-sitting Owen did in Graz. He certainly never took the field in a competitive match under Rafa, did he?
